How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6021486 / WPW10443885 Door Latch

With help of YouTube it took 20 min. SUCCESS. Del on time part correct. 100% satisfied. 

Disassemble machine and make repairs thanks to parts pros 

I googled the error codes and the AppliancePartsPro.com website appeared in the search. I clicked and found some basic information and watched a video how to correct it. The video also said I could purchase the part online. Based upon the video I took apart the proper items in the washer drum and took out the part that I believed was malfunctioning. I found the part number, ordered the part on your site, I did pay for express shipping and the next day the part arrived. I replaced it based upon the same video and put back the door gasket and the issue was corrected! Fast and easy and way less than the repair company costs and faster since they had a 2 week wait. I cannot thank you enough! 

The repair was straightforward. I found a video on YouTube that took me through the steps. Take off the lid of the washer by unscrewing the 3 screws on the back of the machine. Then unscrew the 2 torx screws in the door area to release the Door latch part. After that it was just figuring out how to get my arm in enough to unplug the 2 wiring harnesses—it's a tight space. That took the longest because I really needed 2 hands to release them, and only 1 arm fit in at once. After much sweat and contortion I managed to unplug them. Reistalling was easy once I realized I could snip the zip ties holding the wires in place to lift them out higher. I should have done that sooner. After plugging back in and rescrewing the part to the front door area, I replaced the zip ties to keep the wires off to the side. Then placed the lid back on. Total time to replace the part was about 30 min. Machine is working again. 

Replace door lock. Don’t forget need to unplug for couple minutes to reset and clear error code after installation. Just take 2 screws out and take door seal spring off to get part out. Remove 2 wire harness off switch. Replace wire harness on new lock, screw lock back in and reseal door. Was great experience. Just put standard shipping and had the part in a couple day. 

Removed retainer around gasket by locating spring, pulled back gasket by switch, removed screws and put in new switch. Put gasket back in place and put metal retainer back around gasket. 

Ordered the part and followed a video matching my washer. Very easy 

I changed it out with no problem. 

Replaced door latch. It was an easy fix. Removed spring holding rubber boot on, pulled boot aside to access latch. Removed screws form latch and unhooked wires. Removed old latch and replaced with new one. I ordered the latch at approximately 2pm on Friday and received new latch Saturday morning at 11:00.
