How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094500 / 285671 Lid Switch Assembly

Replacing lid switch. New plug was not an exact match, but I was able to join old one to new switch. Now it spins like a tazmanian devil. 

Ordered the Water Inlet Valve assembly & lid switch. Watched the video showing how to replace the water valve assembly to confirm how to remove the washer cabinet, and then executed on "the plan". Replaced the parts and confirmed that everything is back to normal on this very old, but still serviceable, washing machine! Why spend $500 or more when a couple of parts rejuvenates the machine?

Located replacement part and watched video on what was involved with the repair which was indispensable to instilling confidence that I could a be able to and willing to even try this repair. Video walked you through the whole process. It was surprisingly easy once I understood where to start. 

Replaced the lid switch. 

After some exploration on machine, I determined the lid switch was faulty. I had use Appliance Parts Pros in the past and they were extremely helpful. I went online to their site, entered the information on the washer and determined the part needed. I ordered the part very easily online and received the part two days later. I reviewed the repair instruction video and started the work. It went smoothly until the last step. I reviewed the video again and realized where I went wrong. Within a minute the washer was running properly. Total time for the repair was 35 minutes. Great job guys and gals. 

Installed new one. 

Found that the lid switch wasn't making, so I searched for my particular washing machine model and came across this site. The repair video is outstanding and the price for the repair part was reasonable. Beats taking it to an appliance repair shop. 

Replaced lid switch - part was $15 cheaper online than local parts place.
