How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3108436 / 4387478 Light Socket Kit

The light switch was a little cheaper in price so I replaced it first, this did not fix my problem. Then I ordered and replaced the light socket and that fixed my problem. The repair video helped me to be confident that I could do this repair..

I looked up the model number and ordered a replacement light socket. When it arrived, I watched a YouTube video showing how to replace the light socket. It was quick and easy, and I am a senior woman.

I watched the video on AppliancePartsPros.com and ordered my part. I unplugged the fridge and removed the old piece (as easy as the video said). I plugged in the new part, snapped it back into place, plugged the fridge back in and tada....my fridge was bright once again!

We keyed in the refrigerator model number, ordered the new socket, and watched the installation video. The only minor issue was that one of the screws on the socket housing was challenging to line up with the housing that also contains the temperature control. The job took 15-30 minutes when it would otherwise have taken 3 minutes to install. The part arrived within 3 days and now we have light! 

Watched the online video and realized it was a very simple repair. Every step went just as the video explained. Repair completed in just a couple of minutes. Online video shows the level of difficulty of a given repair. Great idea.
