How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005653 / WP18776 Top Lock

I watched a YouTube video, followed instructions, the only snag was I had a difficult time disconnecting the old switch, it was very simple to change out the switch. And replace the lid brackets! I did it myself ?? 

Replaced drum rollers, idler pulley and belt. No more squeak but shuts down mid cycle. Thinking I need a new motor 

Purchased and replaced Idler play and rear drum rollers, and while I was at it I added a new belt and some new top locks. Repair went pretty quick,to me the most difficult part was installing the new Triangle lock washers on the Rear Drum rollers the rest was fairly simple. Videos are a great help with the repair. Thanks very much for providing them.. 

I undid the top with a putty knife, took out two screws and took off the front. I replaced the drum rollers and put the new belt on the drum, looped the belt on the idler and then onto the motor pulley. I also put on two new top hold down clips as the old ones broke because they were plastic, the new ones were metal. I took off the back panel and replaced the heating element. The hardest part was cleaning up all of the lint and dirt that had accumulated over the years. It was not difficult, just took time as I was doing it by myself. Your videos did help. Thanks! 

I just followed the simple procedures to troubleshoot the problem, viewed the videos and discovered the belt was broken , replaced the drum belt and broken latch as shown in video not a difficult task 

Watched the video from AppliancePartsPros.com to open up a comparable old dryer. It looked easy so went for it. It was easy, but I did break one of the old plastic top keepers. My suspicion was confirmed that the belt broke, so I ordered the parts. After super fast delivery of the parts, the dryer is once again going strong. 

I checked out some youtube channels on troubleshooting, and determined the drive motor needed replacing. While searching for a youtube channel for repairs I found your channel, and I couldn't be happier. You had the parts I needed at a good price, the delivery was quick. When I had a question about the parts needed, you were quick in your response. In all the repair went smoothly, and the dryer is working like new. I spent around $230 in parts, primer, paint and delivery, which includes the new aluminum vents hoses. But it was worth it, It's a great dryer. and to get a new one with the same load capacity would had cost me $600 minimum. And got the satisfaction of fixing it myself. Thank you for your help. You have gained a new loyal customer. 

Replaced belt as a maintenance item so it did not break at an unexpected time. 

After taking the drum out of my dryer and testing the motor, I found the bearings in the motor to be bad and causing the squeeling noise. I went on line to AppliancePartsPros.com and found the motor and also purchased a new drive belt and top lock clips. All parts I needed were in stock. I ordered them at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, received the parts by 3:00 PM the next day and installed them that evening. The instruction videos are so helpful and made the job very easy.
