How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005484 / WP12555902 Relay And Overload

Ordered relay, after watching you tube 

Removed cardboard cover, Disconnected 2 wires, replaced part, reconnected the 2 wires. Powered on the unit and found it working just fine. I did watch a video and found it very helpful. 

I ordered my part from Appliance Parts Pro. I received in under 24 hours! I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with this same appliance. It took less than five minutes to remove and replace the parts I ordered. I also cleaned the coils on the fridge after replacing the part. I now have the coldest beer in town! 

Removed the relay/overload and shook it, heard a lot of ceramic rattling around and knew the problem. Confirmed replacement part on this website and ordered. Shipping was amazingly fast!! Only problem was new part had two separate blade style connectors whereas old part had plastic snap in type plug. Had to cut off plug after determining hot/neutral wires and crimp on the connects that would fit on the new part. Positive blade is gold, neutral is silver on the particular relay for my fridge. Hooked it up and compressor started immediately, fridge began to cool. 

I've learned from a web possible reasons. Took out Relay and Overload. When I open it was discovered that Relay and Overload is burnt out. I replaced Relay and Overload with one purchaced from Appliance Parts. Now refrigerator works grate. Thanks. 

Checked fans and vacuumed coils Checked condenser with ohm meter Checked relay. Rattled when I shook it and small metal pieces fell out, so I knew it was bad. Ordered new part and it arrived two days later. It took about 15 minutes to replace the part and the refrigerator was back in business. After about 12 hours the freezer was maintaining 0 degrees. Now it working like a champ. Spending $60 and less than and hours time sure beats spending the $1,200 I was looking at for a new refrigerator. 

I replaced the start relay and capacitor. I ordered the part on Tuesday morning and received it by 9 am the following day. 

I found you site while trying to research the problem. It was presented in a very easy and understand able way. I ordered the part 2 days later the part arrived, 15 minutes after starting the repair I was replacing the rear panel and plugged the unit in. That was 5 days ago. Everything is working as it should, thank you very much. 

After deducing it most likely was the overload relay, replaced part and worked like a charm.
