How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009605 / WP500121 Dryer Glide Felt Pad

Replaced them. 

Put in the parts that were worn ( 2 Glide felt pads, 2 Drum glides, and 2 Glide brackets. ) plus a new bulb. Now it's working like a new one again. ( It is ten years old ) 

My problem was my dryer would work for about 10 minutes after that the ignitor would glow but the flame wouldn't kick on until it cooled down a little bit maybe three or four cycles but then the flame would light up again replaced gas valve coil kit even though ohms test showed it was good found a video on youtube how to diagnose dryer problems and on there the guy says even though your coils test good when they heat up is when they can fail 

1. I watched your videos (twice) to see disassembly steps and techniques 2. Disassemble dryer to diagnose troubles. 3. Found that the drum was hitting the top of the blower housing and that new felts and glide pad felts should fix it. 4. We accidently broke off the plastic air duct in handling, so I ordered one of these as well. 5. The parts arrived in 3-4 days. 6. We followed the instructions in the videos, which are well detailed and 7. The machine is now very quiet and operates perfectly! Thanks! 

Took the throw the kitchen sink approach at it. Figured it was the rollers and glides so those went in and since I was removing the drum, let's do the belt and tensioner while we are in there. Do yourself a favor, vacuum everything out as well. Now it's nice, quiet, and smooth again like new. Got 16 years before the repair, hopefully I get another 10. Saved myself $$$ vs service call or a new unit that will probably break and be not repairable due to all the electronics they now include. 

Our Dryer is 18 years old and have had gas valves replaced once. Now it was squealing. I found Appliancepartspros.com on line and read about my described problems. I ordered the dryer drum felt seal and the video from the Appliance Part Pros showed me how to install the new drum felt seal. The Appliance Part Pros recommended I order the dryer drum glide and dryer glide felt pad...which I did. It took me less than an hour to fix my dryer and it works better than before and makes no noise! 

I had to cut the fan away from the hub so I could use vice grips to get it loose. Once it broke free it was easy to replace. The dryer is 16 years old, so while I had it torn apart, I decided to replace the drum felt and belt. I did not remove the felt until I had the new ones in hand. Then I discovered that the felt was glued down. So I had to turn around and order some high temperature adhesive. Part suppliers should have a foot note to let the do it youselfer that adhesive is needed so you are not down any longer than needed. 

I watched the video first and realized it must be the glides and felts because the glides were well worn and the felts were messed up. The video just happened to be the very model of our Maytag dryer so that was encouraging and it looked like an easy fix. Even if it was some other problem, it obviously needed the maintenance. I bought 2 dryer drum glides and 2 felt pads that were shipped super fast. Then, I just followed the video and Waala! Fixed...quiet now...ahh, relief! Thank you Appliance Parts Pros! Saved me hundreds of dollars. When the belt wears out, I'll be back! 

Found that the blower fan was cracked and was turning freely
