How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008107 / WP3363394 Washer Drain Pump

After reading reviews on the appliance pro Web site I watched a repair video and determined that I had a leaking water pump. Ordered the recommended part and made the repairs via the previous watched video. It went very smoothly and just like the video showed. 

Installed a new pump. 

I replaced the water pump with a new on 

Replaced the drain pump 

Replaced pump, 15 minute project that avoided purchasing a new washer. Took more time to shut water off and unhook water lines and drain hose... than to replace the leaking pump. 

Replaced the discharge pump. Thanks to AppliancePartsPros, the correct part was available, very affordable, and arrived in two days. I have owned the same Whirlpool heavy duty washer and dryer for 29 years thanks to the availability of parts and information here. Thank you! 

I inspected for water marks on components like water from the main tub hoses etc. Identified hardwater marks where the motor shaft meets the pump housing. Also suspect was hard water under the tub lid and down one side might be a leveling issue. I removed the Pump and noticed that the internal component would not turn without quite a bit of force and hard water marks where the housing meets the motor. Conclusion, this must be where a leak is happening. Then, after cleaning parts I installed everything (Hoses, wire harness, fill components & pressure tubing) Leveled the machine and ran a cycle. This verified the pump as the failed component. I ordered the new pump from AppliancePartsPros.com. The new Pump arrived very fast! Afer dismantelling once during inspection I realized that I could easily get to the Pump by tipping the Washer on its side. I Installed the New pump in under 15min and the rest is history!

With utube and appliance pros help, at the age of 83 I was able to make the repairs myself. However, it was not easy at my age until discovering how to remove cabinet from washer. Installing hose and pump was easy only a few minutes after cabinet removed. Installing cabinet gave me a fit ha ha until I discovered the front edge must go under the front frame, bingo done. 

Replaced drain pump and hoses. 20+ year old washer still going strong. Replaced the parts and will probably go another 20.
