How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009844 / WP6-2022030 Washer Drain Pump

Water pump was leaking replaced it 

I noticed the lint trap wasn't filling up very quickly. We followed the video to replace the belts and the drain pump on our old, but still great Maytag washer. 

Replaced the drain pump and belts. 

Need a belt only. Once the sock was removed from the pump, we only needed a pump belt. 

New belts, new pump and new lid sensor. 

Followed the great video provided on the Washer Drain Pump and it went smoothly. Both of my hose clamps were very rusted and one of them failed, so I had to get a replacement. 

The belts seemed stretched and worn, so I first replaced those. But new belts did not fix the problem. So I ordered the new drain pump. The new pump was easy to install, and it fixed the problem! Replacing the belts and the pump required the washer to be tilted back, so I first had to get the heavy water out of the washer tub. I happened to have a Rainbow vacuum that can handle water. I placed the Rainbow in the adjacent utility wash tub, and emptied it many times as it vacuumed the water out of the washer. I'm not sure how I would have removed the water otherwise -- I didn't see that issue addressed in any articles or videos I viewed. I suppose I would have bailed it out with a small bucket, or bought something like a ShopVac that can handle water. I did not think I could just leave the water in the washer and be able to tilt it back. I was very pleased with AppliancePartsPros.com The website provided lots of great information. Just watched a couple of YouTube videos on Maytag washer drain pumps and Maytag belt replacement. Very easy repair. The type of Maytag washer repaired is the same type as those used to use public commercial washaterias. We saved from having to either call a repair person or buy a new washer (which would not have been as good quality as the one we currently have). We received the parts from AppliancePartsPros.com on a Saturday morning less than 24 hours after we ordered them. The parts were OEM parts, not the cheaper knockoffs sold elsewhere. Though more expensive, the OEM parts give us peace of mind, since the failure of the washer drain pump caused water to leak from the washer. 

Replaced pump. Could not visibly determine what was wrong with old pump so assume there was wear on impellor? After install of new pump everything appears AOK. Delivery of new pump took only one day!
