How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5962285 / W10782773 Pump And Motor Assembly

After watching the repair video, I determined the repair was pretty straight forward, so I ordered the part in anticipation of the unit failing soon. The part arrived the next day of the order being processed by this company. The only surprise was that I needed a #10 TORX screwdriver for the screw holding the drain pump discharge adapter in place. The only reason my repair took so long was that I was in no hurry,took numerous breaks and made modifications under the cabinet for the machine. I used liquid soap to lubricate the O-rings and gasket surfaces and they went on with no problems. The dish machine runs like new again. Watching the video is invaluable in that it shows tricks that will be needed to gain access to the machine. The parts program on the website still thinks this doesn't fit my specific model. 

Replaced the "circulation pump and motor assembly". Start to complete 1 Hrs, 10 Min. 

I put in a new pump motor and pump assembly. Here’s a tip for those trying to do this. The pump assembly fits very tight into the dishwasher so you have to wet the outside seal in order to get it to pop in. Do not use soap or anything slick because it will pop back out on you if you do. 

My Kenmore dishwasher was making a very loud noise when in operation that was getting progressively worse as time went on. I determined it was the main pump motor. I ordered the part from Appliance Parts Pros and paid the extra $3 for next day shipping. As promised it showed up the next day! I watched the video and replaced the part. Easy peasy! Literally the hardest part was removing the dishwasher from the cabinet. Setting the new motor assembly was a little difficult too, but fallow the directions on the video and it will go in just fine. While I had the dishwasher out, I replaced the drain hose as well just for precaution. My water supply line was in good condition, so I didn't replace it at this time. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace is as well. Put everything back together and my dishwasher is nice and quiet again! Thanks Appiance Parts Pros! Oh by the way, APP was $40 cheaper the Sears. Plus shipping was cheaper too. 

Changed out pump and motor - took about 2 hours.Took some time to set new motor in dishwasher, due to tight gasket fit. Works great! 

Tried to flip o-ring first with some additional silicon but that did not help and since I was not sure about exact leak location and Thanksgiving one day away, I overnighted the entire assembly, hoping for the best. It actually received package 5 hrs earlier than predicted and that gave me enough time to repair and test, just in case I needed to reorder something which I didn't because that fixed it. 

Replaced circulation pump. Very easy to install once you get the washer pulled out. The water is hard piped on mine so pulling it out requires disconnecting the water line with the washer still in place. This is my third repair on this washer that required pulling it out so not much unexpected to happen. 

I searched the problem and came across the repair video. I was so thrilled with the video and how they went through every step. I ordered the part and referred to the video for installation. The video went through every detail. That made the job a snap. 

Just goolged loud kenmore dishwasher. Watched a video on how to change the most likely cause of the noise. We ordered the pump and motor from Appliance Parts Pros because that's where we saw the video and had a link to order the part needed. Got the part in 3 days and installed it the following weekend.

The seal was a bit challenging to get right but after a bit of trial/error, I finally got it seated properly. This pump&motor kit was the cheapest online from a reputable company and it showed up on my door step two days after I ordered it. I am very happy with the purchase. I will be visiting this same company for other appliance part needs. I saved a great deal by not calling the appliance guy to come out and fix the issue. Up next on my wivey's honeydoo list is to fix the light in the fridge (requires replacement of computer board)..Wish me luck:)!
