For Whirlpool Dishwasher Pump And Motor Assembly (Part Number: OEM17886864)

Cheryl for Model Number GU1500XTLQ0

I purchased this same Whirlpool Pump And Motor Assembly in November of 2021. I now have a leak. I assumed it is the seal to this pump & Motor Assembly as when I watch the dishwasher when it is running, it has a drip, drip, drip coming from where the grated/waffle area of the pump. I checked the tub, no problems there and don't see any other area it could come from. It seems to leak harder once the dishwasher starts running the cycle. Is there any other thing I should be looking at other than this is the entire pump or seal itself? I was told they do not sell the seal by itself and I would have to buy the whole unit.

Hello Cheryl, thank you for contacting AppliancePartsPros.com From your description I would heavily suspect an issue with the sump seal or pump and motor assembly W10782773. Anything that could be leaking would be a part of that assembly and it is recommended the manufacturer to replace the entire thing in one go than to try doing it one piece at a time, since that often causes other components to leak or fail after being uninstalled and reinstalled.

Michael, The pump and motor assembly will come with the sump as well as the circulation motor and the circulation motor would be just the motor with impeller.

MIchael, Thanks for the question!!! Checking for a 120vac supply to the motor should answer this question. If you have voltage the motor is the issue. No voltage would likely mean a failed control.

Rhody for Model Number KUDS01DJSS1

Repair requires removal of dishwasher cabinet from under kitchen-counter to replace its circulation pump-motor assembly. Blind installation showing copper tubing water supply and probably direct wiring of a/c power. Is it typical for such installations to provide loop of tubing and wiring to allow sliding out of washer cabinet while it's still attached to the tubing and direct wire? Can this be examined from below washer at lower front panel to determine status of installation "slack" that may have been provided?

1 Answer

Rhody, the slack can be viewed from underneath the dishwasher. It is recommended that when moving the dishwasher around that the power supply and water supply be turned off prior to moving it around. It is common for there to be just enough slack to be able to move the dishwasher out but you will still want to be very careful and move it out slowly.

Sam for Model Number 66516032402

some one started the dishwasher (not me so I did not hear it start the cycle). about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs later I was in the kitchen and heard the dishwasher- sounded like the pump was running- I decided it should be done so hit the cancel/drain button. it continued the same noise so I opened the door to shut it off. the next morning i checked and the dishes were not clean and there was most of the detergent was still there-but the detergent door had opened. so not sure if it is the fill valve or pump/moter or both- or something else.

1 Answer

SAM, Restart that dishwasher and give it time to normally fill then open the door and see if there is water. Make sure the float is down with no obstructions.
