How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4135008 / D7824706Q Ice Maker

Replaced the ice maker 

I replaced the ice maker. 

I could see and here the wheel that start the ice drop process slipping. Replaced the ice maker and leveled it so it wouldn't leak. 

Ordered a new ice maker 

Tried to contact Whirlpool with unsatisfactory response. While waiting for Whirlpool to respond to either my phone call or email, I searched further online and found AppliancePartsPros.com! Phone APP and confirmed the part I needed (replacement ice maker) and then ordered it through the APP website....noting that the price was significantly LESS than what I would have paid by ordering from Whirlpool. Installation video on APP website was straightforward and allowed me to install the new ice maker in less than 10 minutes without any difficulties! 

While repairing my Amana refig ice maker, I noticed the dimensions and configuration as my old Kenmore ice maker that was leaking through holes corroded in the ice mold. The same part number fit perfectly with a spliced wire harness

Ordered a replacement icemaker. Got it, was surprised a few parts were missing...but they were just the bar and end cap so no biggie...the videos online made it look easy but that was a top end freezer, mine is a side by side...so a little less room to work with. Over all it was loosen the top 2 screws, remove the bottom, twist up and right, remove the cable( probably the hardest part because the plastic was cold) and pull out. I used a flat blade screw driver to remove the wiring from the housing.
