How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4135008 / D7824706Q Replacement Icemaker

Our Whirlpool side X side is 15 years old. The icemaker, for lack of better words, was getting lazy. It would cycle the water in, freeze it, but just wouldn't push the frozen ice out. Sometimes the ice cubes would just be sitting on top of the icemaker, like the motor was just getting to weak to push the ice out. So we decided to purchase a new icemaker. Installation was fairly simple and so far has cured our problem. 

The replacement icemaker was easily installed, and problem was solved. It was easy as 1, 2, 3. 

Replaced icemaker with unit found on your website. Watched the detailed instruction video found on your website. Saved a ton of money over calling "the guy". Easy DIY project. 

I replaced the ice maker, I ordered the part around 1pm. the next day it had arrived awesome price and service. 

Replaced the ice maker 

Replaced ice maker, second time in 12 years. Simple to do, takes longer to remove freezer drawer than to replace the ice maker. 

I watched the video on how to replace the ice maker and the replaced it with zero problems. Excellent help in trouble shooting problem and installation video further assisted in ease of installation. 

I first thought it was the ice maker but after watching the YouTube video from AppliancePartsPros, I realized it was the water inlet valve. I called and spoke to someone about it and they confirmed it. They were so very helpful. 

I looked for a new ice maker online and found it pretty quickly on ApplianceParts Pros.com. My only worry was that it wasn't compatible with my fridge (made by Whirlpool) but after watching the accompanying video and comparing it to my broken ice maker--I was positive it would fit...and it DID! Installation, with the help of the handy video tutorial (watched one more time) was exactly as described and ice started flowing within a short period of time. Now, I have all the ice I need. 

Replaced the ice maker with the one ordered. The unit looks just like the original and seems to be performing exactly like the original OEM (when it was working). Received the new one in two days with just standard shipping. I watched the video from the website on how to replace it, it was exactly correct for my model. The repair was super easy and I am very satisfied. Unplug the refrigerator, remove the three screws with 1/4" nut driver, unplug the wiring harness, review the old ice maker to verify which NEW wire harness to use (provided in the kit), plug it in, re-install the three mounting screws, adjust the water inlet tube, swap the wire on/off lever from the old one, plug in the refrigerator. Very happy!
