How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4135008 / D7824706Q Replacement Icemaker

It took me about 10 minutes to replace the ice maker & it works perfectly!!! I'm a 40 year old female, & I wanted to try to do the repair myself before I spent $$ on an appliance repair company. The video was great & easy to follow allong. 

I ordered the replacement ice maker that was compatible with my model of refrigerator and followed the steps shown in the video. I received the ice maker with 36 hours via Fed Ex and could track its arrival. I will definitely use AppliancePartsPros.com for any future appliance repairs I may have and recommend it to family and friends. 

Removed dead unit, removed bail arm, face cover, and fill tube guide, reinstalled parts on new ice maker. Installed new wiring harness to new ice maker and installed into freezer. Started manufacturing ice within an hour following installation. 

After reading other customer stories I decided to replace everything - the ice maker, the water inlet valve assembly, and the water inlet valve kit. After defrosting everything (and discovering some old frozen food “relics” that were discarded), I installed the parts (following the excellent video instructions) and completely solved the problem. Now I have all the ice I need! Thanks for another great repair experience. 

I have an older Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) side by side refrigerator with a leaky ice maker. I tried to find information online about leaking ice makers but found mostly threads concerning replacing them. I briefly considered removing my ice maker to see if I could find the source of the leak, but decided I'd order the complete ice maker kit from AppliancePartsPros.com so I'd have it on hand if the leak wasn't repairable. Replacement was pretty easy. Removal required just one nut driver screwdriver and a small slotted screwdriver. The hardest part for me was inserting the wiring harness, although it was in so easy I didn't think it was secure and wasted time trying to remove and re-insert it. The online video was great. The last problem for me again was impatience in waiting for it to make ice and misinterpreting no ice as a problem. Just wait at least 8 hours to see ice and it will indeed make it and soon fill the ice maker. 

I got the serial/model numbers and tried to find my part on line at various sites, to no avail. I then phoned Appliance Parts Pros directly and spoke to a very helpful lady who was able to cross reference the part and we quickly completed the deal. I received the new ice maker in two days, as told it would. I quickly checked all the new and old parts to ensure that they were compatible. I did have to watch the video, you provided on line, to remove the on/off bar from the old maker. That was all I needed to complete the installation. All total, I spent approximately 20 minutes from opening the package (well packaged too) to completing the installation. The new ice maker is making ice faster and cleaner than the old one. Purchased a new ice maker bc mine inexplicably wasn’t cycling properly. Was making ice but not dispensing properly. Replaced ice maker, used existing wire harness. The part was identical. You tubed the install and it was easy peasy lemon squeezy. Importantly, the replacement part didn’t use plastic where the original didn’t. Materials and fit were a match. Couldn’t be easier 

Waterline leaking at the connection union. Replaced 3/8" - 5/16" union, good as new. 

I got on the internet searching for ideas on what could be wrong. I came across Appliance Parts Pros and listened to the videos which were outstanding. Ordered new ice maker. - Shut off power to refrigerator - Shut off water supply to ice maker - Disconnected ice maker cable from connector behind ice maker - Removed old ice maker from freezer. - Removed wire assembly from old ice maker and installed in replacement ice maker. - Removed ice level bale wire from old ice maker and installed in replacement ice maker. - Mounted new ice maker in freezer - Reconnected cable to connector behind ice maker - Turned on power to refrigerator - Turned on water supply to ice maker - Made sure ice maker bale wire in down (ON) position - After 24 hours ice was available
