How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4135008 / D7824706Q Ice Maker

I purchased the replacement icemaker, watched the helpful how-to video (as well as other videos in found on YouTube), grabbed my tools and went to work. Only a 1/4" nut driver and a second set of hands for the freezer drawer removal was needed. Very simple to swap over the wire harness, front cover and the ice bail. Total replacement time was less than 15 mins. I saved myself a lot of money! 

Replaced ice maker unit which resolved the issue. 

Replaced the icemaker.

Replaced the Icemaker. 

Replaced the icemaker. Was not making ice nor did it respond when testing. Removed 3 screws, disconnected the electric connector and replaced the icemaker 

Overflowing a lot is a better description. Watched the video !! Changing out the ice maker was straightforward, and super simple. Remove 1 screw, loosen 2 others, lift the old ice maker up & away from the side of the freezer, unhook 1 electrical plug and it's out. In reverse order, do the same and you're done in a few minutes. 

Replaced ice maker complete 

Removed 3 screws holding it to the bulkhead and unplugged it from the back of the freezer. The "bail" pulls straight out I was worried it would break with the amount of pressure I was using but it does pull straight out. To remove the wire harness you need to pull the front cover off and depress the tab on the plug through the side of the frame. This will make sense when looking at the replacement's plug slot. Screw it in place, and plug it in, very easy job well except for having to empty the freezer. 

Replaced ice maker. I tried to repair the old icemaker first but had no success and the coating was peeling off, so replacement was needed anyway. Cost was less to replace then repair old icemaker.
