How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4135008 / D7824706Q Ice Maker

I watched the video and it was spot on. I ran into two differences which was only a minor problem. First, I have a bottom freezer so I had some trouble taking the drawer out but I eventually figured it out and needed some help from my son to do it. Second, the water feeder hose apparently was different than the model in the video. My original icemaker had a funnel type attachment that the hose needed to go through. In order for it to fit properly I had to remove a tab on the plastic reservoir. That potential difference was not mentioned in the video. Overall the project was easy enough and not too hard to figure out how to deal with the differences. I am not very handy or mechanical and was able to figure out. 

Followed the video provided by Appliance Pro. The repair was rather easy. The only issue I had was that after I had completed replacing the icemaker, nothing happen. I did not know what to think. I eventually found a comment posted on the web, that it sometimes takes 2 hours for a replaced icemaker to start working. Once I read that, then I waited and after I hour the heard the water fill the icemaker and then I know all was well..... 

Changed the ice maker component after watching the AppliancPartsPros.com video. it was super easy and very cost-effective 

I ordered an OEM replacement ice maker assembly and replaced the failed unit. The video showing the replacement was very helpful, but the upright side-by-side refrigerator/freezer shown in the video was a lot easier to access the ice maker than my Whirlpool unit which has a bottom chest pull-out freezer. Not very much room to move around. Had to basically do the replacement one-handed. OEM replacement ice maker assembly is working fine and making ice! Took much longer than expected to replace the ice maker. 

Our ice maker suddenly had issues where it was leaking and not making ice. I Googled and found AppliancePartsPros.com. I easily found the replacement but was a bit nervous until I watched their great instructional video. I watched it a couple of times and thought why not. There were some sites that has a little better price, but I felt AppliancePartsPros must really care you can do it yourself if they spend so much time making such great instructional videos. I decided to order it, it came within only about 4-5 days. I watched the video again and within 45 minutes replaced the ice maker. Now I am getting ice like crazy and not one issue. Also, the replacement was of great quality and fit perfectly. I would totally use AppliancePartsPros.com again and highly recommend them. 

Got model number then did a part search on Appliance Parts Pros. I contacted technical support to confirm part and ordered online. New icemaker showed up in 3 days and was installed and making ice in less than an hour. 

Replaced the icemaker assembly. Using a 1/4 inch nut driver and Phillips screw driver. 5 minutes and done. 

Replaced Icemaker for 2nd time in 15 years of owning this refrigerator These icemakers are always a weak point, they eventually fail in some way. This site has saved me twice now by giving longer life to an old fridge. Replacement was easy thanks to the video instruction.

Installed the new ice maker and used the install videos. Started making ice after 24 hours - works great. Thanks.
