How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4135008 / D7824706Q Ice Maker

Ordered a new ice maker. 

We purchased two Whirlpool ice maker kits. After reading the enclosed instructions and viewing the online repair video, my brother installed one ice maker without any problems. It took about 25 minutes to remove the old one and install the new one. The second new unit was bad. My sister said it filled up the ice bucket tray with water and she barely got it to stop before it flooded over into the freezer. I called AppliancePartsPros.com and they immediately sentout a replacement. My brother installed the replacement unit and it works great! Replaced the ice maker 

We replaced it. Perfect fit! 

My wife and I moved into a new house, only to discover there was no ice coming out of the ice maker in the freezer, KitchenAid Model KFCS22EVMS5. After basic troubleshooting, I bought this ice maker part and took out the old one. The old ice maker had been sitting in a non-functional state for so long, ice had built up in the water line. Using a hair dryer, I melted the ice in the line. Then, using a flat-head screwdriver and a 1/4" nut driver, I removed the bracket holding the old ice maker in place and pulled it out. I transferred the on/off lever, wire harness, and cover from the old ice maker to the new ice maker, put everything back together, and viola, let there be ice! It took about 4 hours for the first batch of ice, as the freezer temperature had risen while I had it open for the repair. 

I replaced the old unit with the new unit. Very easy! However, after a few hours, the new unit did not appear to be making ice. I uninstalled the new unit, and compared it's innards to the old unit = identical; power cable = same, including the clip for the Black wire that connects it to the icemaker chassis. Did more research, and discovered that it may take 12-24 hours for the new icemaker to cool enough for the new unit to start making ice! Just be certain that the Black-wire block-rectangular fuse is SECURELY attached to the chassis - just like the old connection cable... 

Ordered the replacement part. I couldn’t locate the part in our town so decided I would try online. I was fortunate to locate the part thorough your company. I had you to overnight it to us and son-in-law installed it 30 minutes more or less. Now I have plenty of ice. Thanks for your service. I highly recommend your company for replacement parts. 

Watched the repair video first. Then it was a simple task to remove the old, check to be sure the new one was identical to the old, then put in the new ice maker. Extremely easy fix!! 

I bought two different replacement ice makers on a competitor's site. All of them claimed to be EXACT replacements to what I had. With my fridge over 20 years old, how was I to know? I had to RMA each one of these supposed perfect replacements. I went with the ones offered by AppliancePartsPros, and it was exactly what I needed. 

Bought an inlet valve. Had no difficulty installing it. Once finished and some time passes. The 2005 Kenmore Coldspot refrigerator was making ice again.
