How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4009656 / 12002773 Spring Kit (6 Springs)

The machine did not have a back panel to remove to get at the back 2 springs like the video showed. I replaced the snubber ring once before and struggled to connect to back two springs. This time I cut an opening in the rear panel with tin snips by first drilling a 7/8" hole for the tin snippers to start and yes it was not pretty but finished it off with a 4" wide vice grip I had by folding over the edges to avoid injury working thru the 12" x 18" opening. Now it's a piece of cake! Left the opening without a cover plate because " who cares" right ? $18 The video Is good. Would add to tape the washer lid closed to avoid surprises and also to have new hot and cold water hoses on hand because they will leak if they were disconnected. Take a look at the water valve screens and rinse them out (we used vinegar in a spray bottle and Q-tips) so the water flow is back to normal. Be careful removing the hoses as you will wind up removing the valve and not break something doing that work. Have your vacuum cleaner handy. My wife loves me even more now that she can wash and iron again! I'm serious! Maybe send the three 10/24 x 1" screws with the snubber kit also. 

Snubber ring was half if not less than half of new one. I looked on Appliance Parts Pros what could be the problem and the comments lead me to snubber ring. Since the Machine is at least 18 years old. I ordered new belt and springs since I was gonna be replacing parts anyway. Well it took me a little longer than the video, but i'm not an appliance repairman and I had to work in a small laundry room space. When finished this machine is a lot quieter and doesn't shake out of balance in the spin cycle. I did a valve mixer fix on this machine two years ago and fixed that too. Very satisfied with parts, shipping price and instruction videos. Next time i see an appliance repairman at a gas station I'll buy him a soda because i feel guilty of the money I saved in labor. 

Googled my model number and it brought me to your forums. Other people had the same symptoms as me and they recommended replacing the 2 parts. Your video made this effortless!!! 5 stars all day long!!!! 

Checked out what to do via Appliance Parts Pros website and ordered the part and other maintenance parts I thought would be a good idea to address while the thing was torn down that far. 

Replaced snubber ring, springs, and pump. Ordered parts and received them within 24 hrs. 

The springs did the trick and the new pump fixed the belt issue. The repair pictures were great and the correct parts arrived quickly. it was so much easier than we thought. 

I replaced both the snubber ring on suspension springs on my Maytag. After watching the Appliance Parts Pros repair video, the repair was a cake walk and only took me an hour max. 

I found many comments about the same problem with washing machine. AppliancePartsPros website gave solution, parts needed and an awesome video that showed exactly how to make the repair! Honestly, we didn’t see how the snubber ring and springs could correct the problem but I ordered the parts. They were a fraction of the cost of a new washer! My husband and a friend made the repair in no time at all!! And our washing machine works like new!!! Thank you!!!!! 

I watched your videos, ordered the parts I needed, waited for them to arrive. Shipping took longer than I thought. I took the machine apart, struggled taking the springs off. I replaced the snubber, but had to remove the pulley wheel to get to the screws. Then I started the BIG struggle to get the new springs on. Had to take a break and regroup. Finally got all six on with the help of my good friends Miss Fulcrum point, Mr. Lever and Mrs Vice Grips. From then on it was clear sailing. Put the pulley and hoses back on, Then the panels. Slid it into home and it now works like a dream. PS I am a year old woman with a mechanical mind! I do find the website hard to negotiate through. 

Replaced worn snubber ring and the springs and drive belt since I had them off.
