How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4009656 / 12002773 Spring Kit (6 Springs)

Website suggested snubber ring and possibly the springs. Since I was going to have to take tub out to fix snubber ring I decided to replace springs also. The how to video was helpful as I knew just what to remove and replace, and how to do it. 

I followed the video on what to replace and how. Everything went according to plan. I used a C- clamp to grip the spring, which made it easier to leverage them off and on. Already told people at work about your website Thanks for the help. 

Was gonna just buy a new one. But, the new ones our awful. So I looked online to diagnose the problem and ordered the parts (Snubber ring & set of springs) less than $50 including shipping and had in hand next day and that was just standard shipping! Appliance Parts Pros even included a "how to" video in the receipt which I watched and fixed my wife's beloved "old" washing machine! 

Changed the springs and snub ring that was split in half, tested the water and it works like new again 

Removed front and back panels and removed the 6 springs from the tub; replaced them with 6 new springs. It took about 2 hours. Two of the springs were a bit hard to get to, but successful. Washer works great. Bought the snubber ring, but don't think I need it now.

Motor wasn't going into high speed, so I changed the motor and drive belt, which would allow the washer to spin fast, in doing that it became out of balance a lot, and it would then not completely spin out every time. Changed the snubber and 6 springs, now it runs like a champ. 

Replaced Spring Kit and Snubber Ring and even though the Washer Drive Belt was an issue, I replaced it during the repair as a preventative maintenance as this was was 10+ years old. 

I discovered the bearing had gone out on the water pump, and a lot of white plastic shavings under the washer( worn snubber ring due to pump failure), I replaced the water pump, belt, snubber ring and springs, doing this repair also gave me the opportunity to clean the washer, the repairs were easy with the help of the repair video's from AppliancePartsPros.com, and the washer runs like new, Thanks AppliancePartsPros. 

I went on you tube, searched the problem, watched a couple of videos, decided to was the tub springs, but the snubber and belt should be replaced to. The AppliancePartsPros video was well made, had a parts order link. The prices looked fair, and a parts check against my model number ( and a were-to-look diagram) made it easy. The parts arrived quickly, and I followed their snubber replacement video step by step, but put my new parts back. ( One spring position was too awkward for me to do, but I used a trick from another youtube video and pre-stretched the spring by slipping washers in each 1/2 turn of the spring coil. My wife bragged to her bridge club, and it runs like new.
