How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4009656 / 12002773 Spring Kit (6 Springs)

Replaced snubber ring, which had shed quite a bit of plastic dust. Popped on the new springs and problem solved! It's a bit of a job but not too complicated. Watch a repair video first and things will go smoothly. 

I replaced the snubber ring and springs. 

Every thing went back together great.Snubber Ring took care of the out of balance problem in spin cycle along with the new springs. Not sure I really needed them but why take a chance.This and the water pump was a easy fix. 

I watched the recommended video and ordered the suspension springs and snubber ring. I am a fairly handy guy so the project went pretty much as the video. I installed the snubber ring and springs, putting a little grease on the lower hook of the springs as they were installed. Once the repair was complete and machine back in place, I ran a load of darks. I was delighted to see the washer worked much better. The actual repair was quick but it took a little time to move the machine to the garage. 

Replaced snubber ring and 6 springs. The old snubber ring had detached on one side and was intact on the other side creating an imbalance. The new springs had more tension than the old springs. I can now spin a single wet towel on one side of the tub without incident. 

I replaced the snubber ring and also the 6 Suspension springs. Your video of the entire procedure was invaluable. The reason that the job took over two hours was because I was playing each video clip, then doing that part of the job and coming back to play the next task. Apart from taking off and replacing the springs, the rest of the job was easy. I had a problem with fitting the two front springs because I kept lifting the front of the washer while I was stretching them. A tip to put the washer up against a wall while doing those springs would have made it easier. And a shout-out to Shelley for being so helpful with the order. 

Ordered a pump, drive belt, spring set and snubber ring. Viewed the videos for some helpful tips. Received parts quickly. Had the wager going in an hour. 

I watch the video and the repair seemed so easy, and for the most part it was. :( :( :( Well ALMOST!!! :( :( :( My advice to anyone is to BUY the SPRING TOOL. Everything about the repair went as planned except for the spring replacement. I spent 1 hour on the repair and 1,5 hours getting the last spring (back left) on. I cut my arm severely on the edge of the metal and had blood everywhere. I was so frustrated I almost kicked the washer out the door. I finally made a lever device and got it on but I wish I had bought the spring replacement tools. 

Had the wife replaced tube springs. She had difficulty with with the back spring but my 12 year old son assisted her to get it on. 

We changed the Snubber ring & springs after watching appliance parts pro's video a few times. The job went OK, just a a little hard getting the pulley back on the washing drum. The washer runs a lot better now....
