How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6016799 / WPW10195839 Rear Adjuster Guide

Replaced broken upper rack adjuster and one broken rear adjuster guide that broke during removal. Took me longer (1 hour 15 min) than would be normal as I have one defective eye which makes close up operations difficult to focus on. 

Had to troubleshoot problem and identify parts that needed to be replaced. Searched internet with brand and model number of dishwasher and ordered parts. Took about 15 minutes to replace them and Dishwasher work perfectly now 

Had to look to youtube to figure out how to fix my problem and found the solution, even though they were working on a different brand. (my dishwasher is a Maytag and the video was for a Kitchen Aid) Parts worked fine. 

Mechanism on the upper rack of the dishwasher broke. I ordered the parts Sunday night and they arrived at my home Tuesday morning. I watched the video how to repair. Took 20 minutes to fix and saved at least $150 for not calling a repairman. 

Read the symptoms section and saw that the chopper was an issue quite a bit of the time and sure enough when I pulled it off it was in pieces due to broken glass and a broken adjuster that got in the housing. Watched the repair video and had it fixed in 15 min. Parts arrived in 2 days! Great resource for appliance parts and repair advice. 

The plastic was broken to hold the upper rack in place. I pried the pieces apart with a screwdriver and reassembled and snapped the new ones in place. Because the dishwasher was mechanically functional, I didn't want to call a high-dollar repairman for such a simple job. 

Replaced it. 

Replaced pieces with new parts ordered. As others have stated the hardest part was removing the dishwasher from underneath the counter. If you are attempting replacing tracks be sure to turn off water supply and disconnect from unit. Fortunately I did not snap the plastic attachment when I started to slide the dishwasher out-it just started leaking.
