How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011711 / WP8181651 Door Strike

Replaced the door switch assembly. 

I bought my first part from the store where I purchased the washing machine, however that part was not the total solution. When I found this store I received the parts in a day and a half. The parts were not only cheaper, the shipping cost were cheaper and delivery was quick. This sight also had a good video that was detailed enough to make the repair simple. I will always use this store in the future. 

Replaced door switch assembly and door strike (which had been broken for years). The video was incredibly helpful! From removing the spring around the boot to putting the boot back on was under 5 minutes! 

I watch the viedo on how to replace the part which gave me the courage to try my self. 

Bought a new latch & replaced without a problem. Also bought a new hinge for the door. Instructions were good on how to change it out. Ran into problem trying to remove fasteners corroded with several years of soap & softener spilled down on it. Had to drill & cut out fasteners which made the job frustrating. Stainless steel fasteners in this area would have been a great idea. 

I ordered the part from Appliance Parts Pro and replaced the broken one. It was easy to find the replacement part---you have brand, model, serial, dimensions, pictures of parts, etc..on your site. 

Replaced locking device and strike. I guess after 16 yrs of service? It ginally wore out 

Ordered the parts. Watched the repair video and within 30 minutes the job was complete. Super easy. Recommend watching the video before you start. 

Ordered the part, watched the video, and followed the directions. 

Unplugged Washer, removed bottom panel with Metric nut driver. Removed top by removing screws on the back of machine, and pushing top back 1/2" pulled down on tear drop portion of latch, to release door. Removed wet clothes. Pulled strainer with wet vac ready, and vacuumed water up. Reinstalled strainer. Ordered part. Removed Molex connectors from latch. Taped wires back with Blue masking tape. Removed Torx screw holding latch, pulled latch up through open machine top. Installed new latch, plugged Molex plugs back in. Note" I did not have to pull front display, and I have big hands. Replaced Door strike. Reassembled top and bottom panel. Tested on spin only. Washed clothes, machine operates fine.
