The schematic was located inside the head of our old Maytag washing machine and showed the current flow path was through the lid switch, and then the smaller check switch mounted just in front of it. With the AC power unplugged, the fuse and both switches were checked with an ohm meter for continuity. I found an open circuit in the "lid check switch". Having the schematic information allowed me to make a simple by-pass wire for testing purposes only, and the machine came back to life. Replacing the switch was very easy, secured by one screw, and then transfer the three wires over to the new switch. To access this switch, the head tilts forward by removing the two inboard screws visible on the top. This opens it up and gives you all the access you need. Good luck.
