How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6020256 / WPW10352973 Dispenser Actuator

Replacement part (small control). Followed the repair video from AppliancePartsPros. Part installed fairly easy no untoward issues. 

I took off of the top cover of the machine and isolated the location of the dispenser motor and switch assembly. Carefully removing the wires and marking the location of the wires by taking a picture with my I phone, I then detached the linkage to the dispenser cam from the motor. I unscrewed the motor from the washer and removed the assembly. Installation of the new part was done in the reverse order. Allowing the machine to sit 15 minutes without power I then turned the washer selection to "normal" and ran the machine for a full cycle so it would reset. Back in business! Took about 20 min. 

Installed a new one. Took 5 minutes. 

I had to have the problem diagnosed by an appliance repair man, but once he identified it, I knew I could repair the washer myself with parts and guidance from AppliancePartsPros. The video on the repair was linked when I purchased the part, I got it in two days and in less than15 minutes my wife had her washer back. Compared to the price I was quoted I saved about $150 and got it done at least three days sooner! Thanks guys!! 

Watched a YouTube video. I found what we needed. Ordered the dispenser motor from AppliancePartsPros.com. Received it in two days, then watched video on how to change it out. Steps were very clear and easy to follow. Changed out the part in about 10 min and washer is working like a champ. Thanks to AppliancePartsPros we saved a lot of money and had my washer back running in two days. No waiting for a repair man.

Its not fixed yet. I did change the Dispenser motor as you suggested but it did not solve the problem. I would say its still a work in progress. I am in touch with your techs and with their help, I hope to solve the issue. I must add that the help I received from them on the phone was surprisingly good in terms of their knowledge. They took their time to offer suggestions, search for issue related documents, sent me info on running diagnostics and meaning of all those error codes. I know much more about my Whirlpool washing machine now than I did starting the project. 

I replaced the motor, a five minute job. However, the same problem (the motor constantly running so that the water inlet selenoids would not activate) occurred. I carefully cleaned the electrical contacts and that solved the problem. Now working great! 

Our Whirlpool Duet washer was giving us fits and frequently wouldn't fill with water. Fortunately this model displays error coders (in our case E02 F08) indicating a bad dispenser motor. We live in a remote area with few good service professionals and so I decided to take a stab at fixing it myself. I ordered the part and paid extra for overnight shipping. The part showed up the next day. I watched a 5 minute YouTube video and then replaced the part without any difficulty and fixed the problem. My girlfriend was really excited because I'm a geeky guy who seldom gets to do manly stuff like fix appliances. Very happy with AppliancePartsPros.com!
