How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008318 / WP3391902 Door Switch (Dryer)

Order part and removed 3 hex head screws at top front edge of dryer and slightly lifted up on control panel to lift off pane. It has hangers that support panel while servicing. Remove 2 screws at inside top edge of dryer opening (where lever of switch protrudes) disconnect 3 wire clips at old switch and restore wire clips at new switch and place switch into position and restore 2 screws to secure switch body. 

Ordered the part and easily replaced. 

Googled dryer not working. Said check door switch found not making contact. Ordered new switch from appliance parts pro replaced with new switch. Dryer now works

I knew by experience about dryer timer missdiagnosis. I went checking door latch switch for continuity this time. Multimeter confirmed switch was damaged. Ordered part and changed it. Dryer working perfectly.

The part I ordered replaced the broken switch perfectly. I was able to fix our dryer by ordering a $14 switch and watch the you tube video. Instead of paying repair man ~$150. Keep the videos going! 

My electrician son deduced the problem. Phoned our local parts store in British Columbia's capital city Victoria. Only 3 parts available in all of Canada. Caled theirl centre in Ontario who said, the part was in Vancouver warehouse (30 miles away as the crow flies but on the mainland, we are on Vancouver Island) But shipping would take 2-3 weeks as it had to go to the distribution centre in Calgary - east of here - 500 miles away by said crow flies. Hmmm..not happy with dryer out of action for 3 weeks!! so, handy internet called to action. Three days later, the part was sent from California to our courier depot in Blaine, WA who sends a truck across the border every day. 4 days later...dryer fixed. Thank you. 

Determined it was a bad door switch. Used a clip lead and re-attached the control panel to finish drying clothes. Ordered new switch. Switch arrived. Unplugged washer/dryer. Removed the 3 screws again that hold the control panel in place, swung panel down again. Removed the 2 screws that held the bad door switch. Removed clip lead, transferred wires (quick connect terminals) to the new switch. Attached new switch with the two screws I had previously removed. With panel open i was also able to hold the washer timer shaft so I could remove the stub of the old knob and install a new one I had previously purchased. Swung panel back up in place and re-secured with the 3 screws on top. Plugged appliance back in. Voila! Working again.
