How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007666 / WP3149400 Range Surface Element Switch

Part arrived promptly and sooner than stated. I'm 88 and have trouble getting around so I was a bit apprehensive. Followed video instructions. Installation was flawless. 

Put in new element switch 

Replaced the range surface element switch for the right front burner. It would have been a relatively simple repair except I didn't realize the original part had been replaced by a more universal part, so the knob stem was twice as long as the original part and the knob stuck out 3/4-inch past my other stove knobs. It took me a long time to learn that I actually needed to break off part of the knob stem on the replacement part. Watch the repair video on product web page first, and you'll be fine. 

Replaced switch 

Took back off and replaced switch - used video from appliancePartsPros to see how to do it. 

After watching the video and rewatching as I was making the repair made it seamless and so easy. I replaced 2 of the element switches in under 15 minutes and now my stovetop works great. Thank You! 

Right front burner would remain on high even after it was turned on low. Got the switch very quickly and replaced it. The most difficult part of the repair was pulling the range out to get behind it. Very easy repair. 

Replaced burner switch 

Plug and Play, like replacing a lightbulb. 

Bought this new switch from APP's (fast shipping!) and replaced the switch. I did make a diagram to remind me of the wire colors as the wiring harness did not terminate with modern plastic plug. The five wires were all individual. The stove is older than 30 years!!
