How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005886 / WP2162361 Refrigerator Dispenser Micro Switch

My husband kept saying we need to call someone to fix it. I decided to do a little research and see if there were any diy videos. So I did a general search of the brand of fridge. Your website popped up. I found the drawing of the general area where the dispenser is. I clicked on switch and saw it had a video. I was amazed at how informative it was. The plastic ice funnel was broken too, so I clicked on it and the plastic bracket, just in case. I ordered them on a Saturday, got them on Tuesday. I got back on the website on my laptop, set it beside me at the fridge and started in. Wow! In 20 minutes, I had everything replaced and back together. I flipped the breaker back on, cleaned out the ice reservoir and touch the handle. It worked! I put this website on my favorites list so I can have it at my finger tips anytime I need it. No more needing to "call the man" 

I ordered a new micro switch from appliancepartspro. I received it the next day..it fit perfectly,and with the very detailed video they supplied I had it working again in about 25 minutes.this is a great company with any part needed.very reasonable priced. in the future I will do all of my business with them,as it is the best company I have ever done business with.

THE PARTS ACTUALLY ARRIVED EARLY, I WASN'T EXPECTING THEM UNTIL MONDAY AND THEY SHOWED UP ON SATURDAY. I VIEWED THE FIX IT VIDEOS YOU PROVIDE AND DID BOTH IN LESS THAN 30 MIN FROM UNPLUG TO PLUG BACK IN. 

I ended up replacing the entire bracket because the alignment pins broke. I as long as I had to dissassemble it I replaced the micro switches. It worked fine. 

For the water and ice dispeser, I replaced the bracket that held the water switch in place, a part that held the switch broke off, for the ice dispeser I replaced the switch. The cracked evaporator tray was replaced to stop the leak. 

Well, I ordered the switch thinking that was the problem. The thing that amazed me was the video on how to do the repair. Upon following the instruction to remove the cover, I discovered that the real problem was that the housing for the switch had broken and the switch was not in place. So I oedered a new bracket and when it arrived, followed the simple instructions to install it. Though I ordered the switch unnessarily, I still came out way ahead compared to what it would cost to have it repaired by a serviceman. Your site is amazing, the videos are great and make repairs simple. Thanks 

Spent 10 min. watching the repair video, and then about a 1/2 hour for me to make the repair myself (including prep & cleanup). One of the easiest repairs I've ever done and saved me at least $100 in repair costs if I'd called a Pro.
