How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6015032 / WPW10110027 Knob

My Maytag washer control knob broke during normal use. This wasn't any big surprise though because my washer is now 6 years old. After obtaining the model number of my washer I was able to research the knob online and found it quickly at AppliancePartsPros.com. The best part was it was nearly half the price others wanted. I ordered it and 3 days later it arrived and now my washer is like new again. One additional tip, because these knobs are "locked" in place I watched a YouTube video on how to remove the knob. Anyone with any mechanical understanding will be able to replace this knob without any difficulty at all. Save yourself the $60 house call and watch the video. 

I removed what remained of the broken knob. To do this I used two tiny screwdrivers to depress the two spring-loaded pinchers inside the broken stem that held the now-broken knob to the selector switch. The new knob was easy to just push on to the switch stem. 

I did not have to remove the top control panel as shown on the video tutorial. Since my knob was broken off, I just pushed the center pin down to release the remaining portion of the knob and quickly attached the new knob. 

Ordered a replacement knob. 

Just needed to replace part. Got the new part which was exactly what I needed and put it on the washing machine 

Followed the video that showed up on the web site when I ordered the part. That was a huge help! 

Removed timer and replaced lid switch. Web site was easy and it double checked the part I chose with the model number to ensure the part was compatible. Best of all the price was great the part was OEM and I received it in two days with regular shipping. I’ll be back. 

I purchased a replacement knob from AppliancePartsPros. There are three things to note about my experience with AppliancePartsPros. The replacement knob arrived in one day (hard to believe), the price was less than other sites, and the online video on how to replace the knob was very helpful. I didn't have to remove the entire control section, but the video pointed out I needed to depress the piece inside where you snap the knob onto for it to go on all the way, as well as to remove the broken piece still attached. The standard shipping cost of $8.95 seemed high, but as noted it arrived the next day. That cost was certainly much less than a service call, so it was well worth it. Also, their website was very easy to use.
