How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6006208 / WP22001255 Washer Timer

Many folks indicated similar symptoms that were solved with replacing the timer switch and statistics showed that 42% of the time this solved problem so I took the $200 chance. Already had front control cover opened and old timer removed (took about 3 minutes to do that) and the new part was exactly like the one I was replacing (except NEW of course). Fastened part to the panel connected the wiring harness, refastened the panel to the washing machine and plugged it in (another 3 minutes). Turned the dial and wah lah! Works perfect! Thank you! 

Removed 4 screws and 1 clip to get the old one out and dropped the new one in. Fortunately for me, I found a video on AppliancePartsPros.com that showed replacing the part on the exact model washer as mine. 

Ordered a replacement timer for my model washer from ya'll/APP. You sent the right one which I installed, and now the washer works well. The main thing my wife's pleased. 

Ordered timer from your computer. Replaced part, tested, works perfect. Note I have been In the appliance business for over 40 years. Home appliance service company. I am on 100% disability with VA so I no longer work. 

To fix it, I looked up the model and described the problem on the internet. There was a video describing exactly my issue. I ordered the part and fixed the problem in under 10 minutes. The part was a bit expensive but still cheaper than buying a new washer. Hopefully, I’ll get a couple more years out of this one. I’m going on 20 years. You can’t beat the old machines

Original timer had signs of arching around some timer contacts. I installed new timer problem solved.
