How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6006226 / WP22001638 Washer Timer Control

I called AppliancePartsPros and gave them the detail of my problem and that I thought that the timer may be bad. The guy on the phone with me talked to the technical group and came back and told me that they thought that it was the timer. The timer was ordered and the price was $50 cheaper then a local rep here at home. Anyway the part was ordered and came in less then 2 days and when I replaced it the problem was taken care of. The service, price, and time to get the part was great and I would recommend AppliancePartsPros for everyone. 

I replaced the timer which fixed the problem. Very EASY repair. Unplugged washer from power; removed 4 screws from top of front panel; pulled knobs; popped cap to main knob; removed metal clip that holds main knob (it's spring loaded, so apply slight pressure to avoid flying knob/spring/parts); removed knob-spring-flange; opened front panel to inspect; unscrewed two hex-head machine screws to release timer from panel; removed wire harnesses and installed on new timer; reassembled. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. 

Replaced timer. Used Phillips screw driver, nut driver and needle nose pliers. Took about fifteen minutes. Easier than video because this timer has two multi conductor connectors instead of twenty individual wires. 

I wish every online experience was as good as this one, I feel as though I will never have to call a repairman again. I just entered my washer model number and suggested which part I thought was bad .the part arrived the next day. Not even a professional repairman would have fixed it as fast as I did. 

I replaced the timer.

Replaced with new part. 

Spoke with Mike on Monday, part delivered Wednesday and spoke to Chandler to assist with easy removal of original timer. Seamless replacement{exact part} and cannot say enough about the excellent service and the machine is working like new. Saved 100's of $ . DIY videos very helpful. Highly recommend!!! 

I order the timer from appliance parts pros and re installed it. Now my washer works like new. A shipping was fast and everything worked out great. 

Unplugged washer, popped center cap off cycle dial, removed clip, spring & knob, used nut driver to free timer assembly from panel. Carefully oriented new timer to old & pulled/pinched one wire bundle at a time, transferring to new unit. Reassembled making sure gears of timer & knob meshed properly. Success!
