How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007935 / WP33001730 Dryer Timer

The fix was to replace the timer. A very easy fix. Remove the dial, remove the fasteners on the back and top of the back cover of the control panel and remove the back cover. There are two blots on the face of the timer that you remove and the timer (with all wires still attached) can be taken out of the back of the control panel. I disconnected each wire on the existing timer one at a time and attached that wire on the new timer at the appropriate location. Reinstalled the timer and the panel and that was it. Works great and solved the problem. The video that was on the order page was very helpful as well. 

Replace timer. It was very easy to replace. Nut driver was best choice for screws holding the timer in place but thin pliers could substitute. 

Purchased new timer from Appliance Parts Pro. Very quick delivery, two days to be exact. Replace timer in half an hour. Installed timer upside down and the indicator was in wrong position. Removed the timer and turned it 180 degrees and everything was fine. Great company for parts for your appliances. I have been able to maintain my Maytag Neptune Dryer for about twenty years now. 

Check the NET and found the DIY video and parts.... Timer was broke and needed replaced. I compared prices with a few other sites but preferred AppliancePartsPros for price and most of all the DIY video. It was as simple as the demonstrated. FYI..... Ordered 4pm EST and it was at my door LESS than 24 hours..... KY to central PA. GREAT PERFORMANCE!!!!

After getting that part and replacing it in the dryer it worked like a champ. I want to thank your employee for helping me get the correct part the first time I spoke with her, and it fixed the timer problem on my dryer. Jim 

The repair took about 30 minutes. I unplugged the dryer and unscrewed and removed back/top panel. I photographed the timer unit inside so that I had a record of how it was wired. I removed the dial from the front, making sure to keep the small metal collar that is on the dial post (it may have remained in the dial hole in your case. This is needed to keep the dial securely on the timer post.) I then removed the two screws on the front. I removed the wires, noting how they are attached. I attached the wires to the new timer, inserted it into the hole and screwed it into place. I screwed the rear panel back into place, pushed the dial into place (only fits one way), plugged the cord in and it worked as usual. I used part #WP33001730 (AP6007935) for my Maytag MDE4000AYW.
