How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6016830 / WPW10197428 Compressor Start Device

After using a volt ohm meter to verify the compressor was good I tried to meter out the compressor start device and did not have continuity between the top pins front/back. Top terminal on the part and the pin on the white thermal in the back. Replaced the part and it fired right up. 

The refrigerator is in a motorhome so the part installation was challenging while working through a 18"×18" access opening. Removing the screws on the refrigerator panel was difficult but once removed it took 5 minutes to remove and install new part. Once installed everything worked as it should. I ordered the part at 2:00 pm on Monday afternoon and received it on Tuesday around noon 

Explained to the people at AppliancePartsPros.com that the fridge was warm in the freezer as well as the fridge. The compressor did not seem to be coming on. It was suggested to me to replace the Compressor Start Device (which made sense). I ordered the part, it was shipped the same day! Watched the video on their website, replaced the part, and that was it! Thank you, Joe 

Replaced the start relay and run capacitor.

I replaced the compressor Start Device and Run Capacitor at the same time. 

New parts. Wow this company is the best from ordering by phone and the videos they provide for your repairs top notch. I give it a 10. 

Researched online, and most importantly I watched the AppliancePartsPros.com videos. 

The part we received slipped right into place and the frig started working again. 

Changed it out.
