How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013067 / WP8540751 Washer Water Inlet Valve

Purchased a spare water inlet valve from here, took me 10 minutes to replace it with the easy to follow instructions on APP YouTube page 

Ordered the part it came in 2 days watched the video. The website and fixed it in 10 min. 

I changed the inlet water valve. 

Water kept pouring into my Whirlpool Duet front load washer. The only way to stop the water was to turn he water off. Googled “water pouring into my Whirlpool Duet front load washer” and got a ton of information. Watched a YouTube video by Appliance Parts Pros explaining exactly how to repair the water inlet valve. Linked me right to the website and part number to order the part. Ordered it and it got here two days later. While it wasn’t EXACTLY the same part as I took off and was configured a little bit differently, I was able to make it work. Saved me he cost of a service call and labor to put the valve on. 

Shut water off to the hoses and opened lid to the washing machine. Found the water was actually coming out of the water shut off solenoid. Removed shut off assembly and attempted to clean it out and reseal it but it wouldn't hold. Found the the part number on the assembly and looked it up online. Ordered the assembly and received it the next day. Attached the hoses, plugged in the solenoids, and turned on the water. Problem solved! 

I determined it was the water inlet valve after searching internet and talking with my local appliance repair guy. Ordered the water inlet valve and installed it. that was the fix. 

Replaced the water inlet valve. Suspecting it was a sensor issue and generally electronic issues just completely quit working, not working sometimes. I heard that the seals in the water inlet valve can begin to fail (not electronic, explaining why it would work sometimes and others not. It was great fixing the problem myself. 

I removed the dispenser from the dispenser housing. On the inside there are little jet pressure holes. I turned the washer on a normal cycle. I noticed water was only running from the back slowly. The water is supposed to spray hard into the dispenser tray from the jet holes. That was my first indication that there was something wrong with the water pressure coming in from the water valves. I ordered the water inlet valve and within a couple days, the part arrived. I placed the new water inlet valve on the washer and performed the same troubleshooting steps (removing the dispenser tray from the housing). Turned the washer on the normal wash cycle and the water sprayed from the jets as planned. The water pressure was stronger going into the water as well. This also fixed my F20 error that I was getting during the rinse cycle. I placed some white clothing into the washer because all three dispensers (detergent, fabric softener, and bleach) work during this wash cycle. All three dispensed into the washer and my clothing are super clean now and smell great. 

Replaced the water inlet valve.
