How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6023768 / WPW10683603 Water Inlet Valve

Replaced water inlet solenoid valve 

By replacing the water inlet valve we not have hot water and both hot and cold now flow faster. Shipping is always fast. 

Started by opening enough panels (2) on back of machine to pinpoint failure. Did a web search on replacing the valve. Chose the web video sponsored by Appliance Parts Pros. Clear step by step approach, from accessing the valve through replacement. Removed part per instructions and then hunted for replacement unit on APPro’s database. Needed to go to chat to order specific part because of mis-direction in database. Chat operators knew their stuff and were most helpful. Ordered part for one-day delivery as my schedule did not permit wait. Part arrived and seemed easier to install than remove. 

The water inlet valve was the only logical problem. After looking up the washer schematics to get appropriate part and ordering the valve from ApplianceParts it was an easy fix. Not saying I would tackle every problem but this one was easy. 

I googled the issue I was having and came across a post saying it was the water inlet valve. So researched that a little more. Found this site and ordered after seeing all the reviews. Sure enough, this fixed our issue! My husband and I replaced it in maybe 25 mins. We also took the time to change our hoses since we were back there! Doing our own repair probably saved us a ton on our 10 year old Amana washer! Part came super quick too! 

Replace the fill value. 

Put a new water inlet in. 

I replaced the Water Inlet Valve and that part did the trick. No more drips. It was a straightforward repair. First, unplug the power source and disconnect the water lines. Then pop open the control unit with a putty knife. Unplug the internal power source to the pump and remove two screws that anchor the valve to the washer. Slide the defective Water Inlet valve out and replace it. 

After some critical thinking; I came to a conclusion that problem could be the water inlet. I looked up the part online. It was just under $100. I decided to just order it and replace it. It was better than buying a new washer and spending over $700. I’d figure to take the cheap route first and if it didn’t work; I’d be out of $100. The new part arrived in a few days and I changed it. It was a very straightforward process. Now my Kenmore washer works like a champ and I saved $$$.
