How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010602 / WP694089 Blower Wheel

It took some effort getting to the old blower wheel. The installation was done easily. 

So I ordered a new blower ( once I determined that was the culprit) and also decided to replace the motor as well because the dryer is older and the motor has a lot of miles on it. 

Put a new Drive Motor and Blower Wheel in. 

We replaced the motor, but the blower wheel wouldn't come off 20 yr old dryer, If you need to replace the motor I'd recommend you get a blower wheel also

For less than $150 my Whirlpool dryer is working like new. Without your instructions on your website. I don't know if I could have been as successful on my own doing this repair! Not sure how much you saved me in this DIY project but I'm sure it was substantial! I ordered a belt, an idler pulley, and a motor pulley. I watched the repair video. When the parts arrived I followed the video and changed out each part. While the dryer was open, I put an adjustable wrench on the blower shaft and turned the motor. The two turned separately, to my surprise. At that point, I realized the blower wheel was the real problem. Again, I watched the video for changing the blower wheel and ordered a new one. When it arrived, I very quickly changed it and reassembled the dryer, and started it and it was so quiet. The only components not changed were the drum rollers. I am TOTALLY pleased with the service, price, and installation videos provided by AppliancePartsPros.com. They have given a ten-year-old dryer another ten years of life. 

I took the back of the dryer off and found the blower had unscrewed itself due to loss of threads on blower. Ordered blower and a belt since I was removing drum to install new blower. Change both belt and blower and dryer works great now. Used the video that was attached to the blower part to assist me with the job. 

Replaced dryer fan. Seeing how it’s intermittent I’m still not sure if this will address the issue. Thermal safety would open. The one clue I had was quite a bit of sand-looking debris in the fan housing. Thought I would first replace the fan and keep my fingers crossed that this will address the high dryer temperature.
