Jayson F Purcellville , VA January 31, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Dryer Cabinet-Electric MCE8000AYW Maytag Dryer Mce8000ayw: Drum stopped turning. How to replace Dryer Drum Belt 92-1/4" 4-Rib. Because I turn easily turn the drum by hand I figured the drive belt had broken (I read online that's how you can tell). I didn't find exact instructions for disassembling my particular dryer online--but I like to tinker with things so I started taking it apart and just figured it out. Reading online forums and watching videos on YouTube helped me understand in general how dryers work--so I used that to figure it out. I took off the front cover and could see the belt was broken. I removed the drum and set it aside. I vacuumed out the whole inside of the dryer (was dusty) and inspected for any other parts that looked worn or damaged--everything else looked fine. I also inspected the rear bearings and front bushings. One rear bearing was a little hard to turn--so I ordered a new one along with the belt (ordered Sunday night). Appliance Parts Pros shipped the items the following day (Monday). I paid extra for overnight shipping. Due to Snowzilla here in Virginia (January 2016) I didn't get the parts until Wednesday due to FedEx deliveries being delayed all over the place. (not surprising). Once I had the parts I was able to replace the belt and bearing and re-assemble the dryer in about 20 minutes. It's pretty gratifying to make your own repair and save hundreds of $$ on a repair bill! 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours
