Timothy E Bellvue , CO September 15, 2019 Appliance: Maytag Dryer Cabinet-Gas MCG8000AWQ Our Maytag gas dryer was not producing heat— specifically it was cycling off after initially lighting When I pulled out the dryer from the wall, I could see dust/lint had accumulated everywhere and the vent system was compromised. I vacuumed up the dust/lint accumulation outside and then inside the vent system. I then opened the lower cabinet to clean and check its condition. I removed the water steamer bottle and its sub-assembly and then the drum. After cleaning and inspecting components — both visually and with a multi-meter I determined the problem was the appliance doing what it was designed to do. It was shutting off because of restricted flow out the vent caused by dust/lint accumulating. I further confirmed this by returning power and switching the dryer on with the cabinet still open and the drum still removed. I could observe the igniter heating to a glow and then the gas valve delivering fuel followed by ignition. I ran the unit for approximately a minute to see if it would cycle off or continue. It operated normally. I replaced the drive belt on the drum as part of routine service as the appliance cabinet was open and it was due. I redesigned and installed a new vent system to prevent problems in the future. It was a three-hour job in addition to the dryer work of an hour. I ordered a number of parts to have on hand as I generally perform my own repairs. I found the information on your website to be helpful in determining which parts to the stock based on the problems others had and your troubleshooting information. I also want to compliment you on your prices as I found other sources charging twice the amount for the same part. Shipping was fast and as advertised. I have you listed as my source for major appliance parts. Bryan B Ville Platte , LA March 05, 2016 Appliance: Crosley Electric Dryer CDE7000W The front drum slides rear wheels where both wore out also needed a new filter screen Un plugged dryer. It was an easy fix, popped the top up. Removed the two screw that held the front on and also unclipped the door switch. Released tension that was on belt and removed drum. Removed old front slides cleaned up area and replaced them. Popped the ring that held the rear drum wheels and placed the new ones with a dab of grease. Un hooked tension spring for idler and removed old one and put the new one in. Make sure you place it through the correct hole and it makes it firmly into the end hole. Replaced drum put the belt back. Attached the front, places the door switch back and closed the lid. Plugged it back in and fired it up! All the parts were correct and worked like a charm. Thank you! John K Coatesville , PA October 22, 2016 Appliance: Admiral Electric Dryer LNC7764A71 Scraping noise when drum turning has heat First time DIY dryer repair. Videos very helpful! Remove front. Found glides worn thin, paint on drum removed where glides located. Drum, cage and motor turned easily - must be OK. Thirteen year old dryer. Order glides & felt, might as well replace belt and rollers while there. First time order - could not have been easier! Received 2nd day. Replaced parts, reassembled & connected power. Ran for 3 minutes with scraping noise then stopped with burning odor. Disassembled dryer, smelled odor from motor. Could have replaced motor using your part and video but not cost effective with basic model. Time for a new dryer. Will return parts but use your site for other appliance part purchases. Completely satisfied! Read More... 4 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers
Clark M Larkspur , CO December 09, 2019 15 year old motor After researching a new dryer, and finding out how expensive and lower-quality they have become, I elected to rebuild our fifteen-year-old high-end Maytag dryer. I replaced the motor, the idler assembly, the wheel bearings, and glides. The total cost was about $300 and it took about 2 hours total. It's running like a top now and is essentially rebuilt. This was a much better outcome than purchasing a new dryer and trashing the old one. I would rate my skillset as high, but I don't see why anyone couldn't research how to do this and accomplish it on their own. The AppliancePartsPros videos, YouTube, and other sources total research time about 20 or 30 minutes. I highly recommend you consider doing this if your dryer motor fails. Jayson F Purcellville , VA January 31, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Dryer Cabinet-Electric MCE8000AYW Drum stopped turning Because I turn easily turn the drum by hand I figured the drive belt had broken (I read online that's how you can tell). I didn't find exact instructions for disassembling my particular dryer online--but I like to tinker with things so I started taking it apart and just figured it out. Reading online forums and watching videos on YouTube helped me understand in general how dryers work--so I used that to figure it out. I took off the front cover and could see the belt was broken. I removed the drum and set it aside. I vacuumed out the whole inside of the dryer (was dusty) and inspected for any other parts that looked worn or damaged--everything else looked fine. I also inspected the rear bearings and front bushings. One rear bearing was a little hard to turn--so I ordered a new one along with the belt (ordered Sunday night). Appliance Parts Pros shipped the items the following day (Monday). I paid extra for overnight shipping. Due to Snowzilla here in Virginia (January 2016) I didn't get the parts until Wednesday due to FedEx deliveries being delayed all over the place. (not surprising). Once I had the parts I was able to replace the belt and bearing and re-assemble the dryer in about 20 minutes. It's pretty gratifying to make your own repair and save hundreds of $$ on a repair bill!
