John V East Quogue , NY August 15, 2016 Appliance: Model J S900S0K3SS F7 error code ge profile oven A very common problem with the GE oven is the dreaded F7 error code. I purchased the control board as well as the keypad and replaced both. The error code could have been either part but since I saw a lot of grease, I chose to change out both even though I isolated the problem to the keypad only. By resetting the error first by hitting the clock button on the keypad, turning off the power, disconnecting the keypad, then turning back on the power if the code doesn't come back it's the keypad. If it does comeback, it's the controller. The items where genuine parts from G.E. and the replacement was done in approximately 30 minutes. To disassemble the front plate, you take the stove knobs off and under that is what looks like plastic nuts. Unscrew each from where the knobs were and that releases the top plastic plate along with two screws to each side. Once that plate is off, it exposes all the screws to disassemble. 92 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
