How to replace Refrigerator Temperature Thermistor. Replaced the inside back panel which comes with a new fan. Seems the old fan had stopped working due to ice which burned it out. The drain tube was blocked and ice built up on the bottom plate. Using a basting tube from Walmart and hot water I thawed out the ice in the tube. The basting tube became much like a toilet plunger and cleared the line rapidly. Nothing else worked as fast. I then bought a one foot long piece of thin solid copper wire from Lowes and stripped the insulation off. I wrapped a couple of inches around the heating element and inserted about 1 1/2" down the drain tube. After a week of use there is no more ice build up. I also replaced the sensor. All total this cost about $104 which was about $200 in savings from having a repairman fix it. I had spent over four hours previously trying to fix it by defrosting and puring hot water from a cup. The real problem was the drain tube and a bad fan. However the DA97-07190G assembly cover had been redesigned slightly from my original four years old one. The basting tube and new part took less than two hours to fix it. Maybe an hour and a half total. 128 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours
