How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4308802 / DA32-00006S Refrigerator Temperature Thermistor

I replaced all three sensors behind the Defroster cover since I was not able to test them. Problem solved. 

Ordered parts, defrosted refrigerator, and replaced with new items. This problem has been going on quite some time, while Samsung refused to acknowledge the defective unit, claiming it was owner fault. The defrosting had to be completed every 3-4 months and managed in time to require defrosting every few days. Originally a repairman came and although he defrosted it the first time, he informed us, this is quite common and the unit is defective by design; which is why we continued to defrost on a regular basis until it became too much. Trying this as last resort, so if this doesn't solve issue, we will have to replace unit. The replacing was fairly easy and would do it again if needed. Parts arrived quickly which was wonderful, can't say enough nice things about that experience. So far, so good, as refrigerator seems to be functioning as it did up until warranty ran out. 

Replaced the fan motor & (2) sensor temp harnesses. The cover inside the refrigerator was froze on initially so be careful. I took a hair dryer to defrost all the ice build up behind the cover which eventually loosen for removal. AppliancePartsPros has several videos with there parts online & very qualified personnel to help. If your having issues with this model shut it down for a minute and turn back on. Error codes will show on your digital display and the hash marks will indicate the parts needed. 

After searching YouTube, found a problem others were having similar to mine. So I researched Google online and Appliance Parts Pros was one of the first searches listed and I went in to search for my parts. Called. Representative on the phone advised me it also could be the defrost sensor that may have caused the water to freeze and slowly leak down below the pullout drawer as it tried to defrost. So I ordered both the drain sensor and defrost sensor and replaced them. Working fine so far. Will have to wait and see in about 2 months to see if ice builds up again. Otherwise very helpful representative and over night delivery worked perfect! Thank you 

Completely defrosted the refrigerator ,took 2days then replaced temp sensor and heater the repair took about 45 minutes so far everything is working fine 

I performed a CONTINUITY CHECK on the wiring with my multi-meter. Found that my unit had a blown thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is the least desirable fuse to run, Samsung manuals upgraded it to a Bi-Metal Protec. I replaced the thermal fuse with the bimetal protec and the sensor temp (defrost sensor) as recommended. 2 weeks now no problems. 

I read the similar problem resolution, viewed the video and decided to take a stab at fixing it. Purchased all the replaceable parts including the evaporator cover with the fan. Good thing since the ice bonded to the insulation of the old cover so most of the insulation was torn when the assembly cover was finally removed. Had a little difficulty removing the heater since it is held by slots in the shield but bending the shield made it easier to remove. Had all latest parts so splicing wires was not required. Tried to install the red and white clips the 3 harnesses on the table but that seemed to be impossible so I just plugged in each harness into the block and installed the clips. Worked well 

Refrigerator had some frost buildup by the back panel so after a lot of searching around I found that the issue could be the drain hole was clogged up. I cleaned it out and made sure that there was nothing clogging up, but that did not fix the issue. I found similar stories as mine on AppliancePartsPros site so I decided to order the three parts that may be the issue, defrost thermostat, temperature sensor and the defrost heater. After a bit more research I found that the most likely issue was with the temperature sensor, I found out how to test it and compared it to the new one by placing the sensor in a glass of ice water and checked the resistance. I replaced the temperature sensor and it fixed the problem so now I can send back the other parts as they are unused. Just costs me a few dollars of insurance (shipping back) to have the parts on hand. Well worth it considering how much a service call would have been. Biggest issue was waiting for the iced up coil to melt overnight. Very easy to replace and there are really detailed videos. Have patience with melting as you do not want to destroy the styrofoam and create a bigger problem for yourself. Don’t force it. It took about 45 minutes working time to replace and get things back in order. 

After removing the evaporator cover to the freezer section and could see significant ice build-up. I replaced both the temperature sensor and defrost thermostat. When I tested the new temperature sensor it was ohming out about 1 K lower than the old one at room temp. Guessing my old temp sensor was within tolerance. My old defrost thermostat tested open no matter what temp. Symptoms I had were control panel showed freezer was -2F but using a remote thermostat I could see it was really 25-30F. My theory is the defrost thermostat was never closing and allowing the heater to defrost. With so much ice build-up, the temp sensor was always reading -2. I would guess since the temp sensor was always reading -2. the fans were never coming on and thus the freezer room would not freeze. With the fridge being 10 years old and with the time involved removing the door, icemaker, evaporator cover, I replaced both the freezer temp sensor and the defrost thermostat. The freezer is now maintaining correct temps. My advice is watch the videos provided by ApplinacePartsPros before making the repairs. 

Replaced the temperature sensor & bi-metal thermostat. It took over night to get the freezer ice to melt. The repair it self was 30 min. Appliance Pros got the parts to me in 2 days which was great. I used standard shipping.
