I was able to determine that both shock absorbers were bad. Also found one broken suspension spring. After replacing those items, I also decided to replace the drum drive belt and the door boot (bellows) as a precaution. It took me more time than anticipated to complete the repairs, but the end result was very satisfying. Our machine now operates like new. By doing the repairs myself, I figured the savings amounted to several hundred dollars over hiring outside appliance repair services. And we saved well over $1,000 over buying a new stacking washer/dryer set. I would not hesitate to tackle repairs in the future.
