This is an optical sensor switch located in the rinse-aid dispenser of a dishwasher. It uses a light sensor to detect the level of rinse-aid remaining in the reservoir and signals the control board when a refill is needed. Replace this sensor if the rinse-aid indicator light stays on constantly, never illuminates, or if dishes come out with spots and streaks despite a full rinse-aid reservoir.

It is a small electronic component typically mounted on or near the control board. Replace this rectifier if the dishwasher fails to start, experiences intermittent power issues, or if the control board is not receiving proper voltage.
