This pump sump screen filters lint, debris and small objects from wash water before it reaches the drain pump, helping prevent clogs and pump damage. Replace a cracked or clogged screen to restore proper draining. What it does:

The Filter Screen is an OEM component specifically designed for Whirlpool dishwashers. Located inside the sump area, the durable mesh screen captures small food particles and debris before wash water is recirculated through cycles.

Symptoms of a bad filter screen can include clogging obscuring openings over time, degrading mesh no longer inhibiting passage, or dislodging from mounting points allowing bypass.

Causes involve the normal accumulation of soils requiring periodic cleaning. Mineral buildup may eventually cement sections together reducing effectiveness.
