Jean D Lakeville , MN January 24, 2015 The water dispenser plastic lever broke Flipped the circuit breaker to turn the power to the fridge off. Had to remove the faceplate to the ice/water dispenser. Carl S New York , NY February 01, 2016 Broken control lever on water dispenser Purchased new "Actuator." Watched YouTube video (scanning and without sound) several days before doing work. Replaced Actuator as per video. Two heads-up items: 1-The control wiring ribbon unplugs from the front plate/control button panel. This may have been covered in the video and I missed it because I wasn't paying close attention. Until I realized this, holding all of the parts together while removing the inner plate was a challenge. The ribbon easily unplugs from and reconnects to the front plate. 2-The water tube slips through the hole in the inner chassis. It can be pushed out from underneath using an object about the size of a pencil. Again, this may have been covered in the video but I assumed that it was a press-fit connection over a fitting and spent time trying to uncouple it when all that was needed was sliding it out. Everything else went extremely smoothly. Having to make this repair is a bit annoying since the failure happened at an obvious weak point on the assembly. I'm amazed the the part lasted as long as it did (+/- 10 years). Read More... 8 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
