Kathie R Burlington , WI January 15, 2016 Appliance: Model 417-99570150/ SERIES 95701 Dryer would not turn on The dryer is a Kenmore Laundry Center, model 417-99570150. Bought in 1998, so it is an older model. Not wanting to buy the newer ones that are out now. We opted to fix the Kenmore. Just believe the older models are worth fixing, if at all possible. Frist we had to figure out what parts we would need and if the cost would be worth our time. I went on YouTube: and type in Kenmore dryer not turning on. Watched several videos to narrow down the possible problem. Next step was to disassemble the dryer, which was intimidating at frist, but, the more I took apart the simpler it was, when I actually could see the inner working of the dryer. Its pretty basic inside. Took the parts I wanted off and, some I was not sure of and ordered them from AppliancePartsPro.com. I Searched many sites for the parts and APP had the same parts as Kenmore and other sites, plus they were considerable cheaper. Got the parts in a couple of days, all parts were in good condition, new, and heavy duty. I took off old part and put on new part. Did this until all parts were replaced. When taking off wires I color coded the clip to be sure the wires were reconnected correctly; When I got the dryer apart I could see what needed to be replaced, the bearing and drum support shaft were broke. Some wires on the back of dryer were melted, so needed to replace the thermal limiter, dryer heater assembly was falling to pieces. Also the Front felt glide assembly was worn needed to be replaced. Totaled up the cost of new parts, and it was a no-brainer. Can't remember exact cost, was under $160.00. I will add too review when I find exact cost. Time it took taking dryer apart, about 45mins, taking parts off and replacing about 30mins. My husband cut the wires (where they melted) and spliced new wire in and put shrink wrap where they spliced together, about 45 mins (If you need to change any wires, make sure too use same gage as old wire). Put dryer back together took about 25min. Except for taking out drum and putting drum back in, and splicing the wires together. I being a 62 year old women did all this myself, I do say it was easier and not as scary as I thought it would be. I would do it all again if I had too. The dryer has been up and running great for a couple of months. Just hope the washer stays running!!!! George P Aurora , IN February 01, 2015 Heating element had burned out in the dryer Washer dryer stacked combo. Ordered the whole heater assembly, which included shield, insulators, heating coil, and sensors, all ready assembled. Had replaced coil about a year ago, but not sensors and insulators. This was much easier and replacing the whole unit is much safer in the long run. The hard part is figuring out how to best get to the coil. James G Lexington , SC August 18, 2014 No heat Replaced the dryer heater element. Biggest issue was finding a video showing how to do it. The dryer is 10 years old, so I ended up finding one relevant video for taking removing the door unit and another for replacing the element. I would also recommend taking pics of the screws and where they came from. I ended up with 12-14 screws that all look kind of alike but centerainly have different applications, so a pic of each before I removed it would have helped. Ron B Saint Augustine , FL June 29, 2018 Appliance: Frigidaire Lc - Frig Gallery GLET1041AS1 Dryer had stopped heating Replaced the dryer heater, and for good measure the limit and thermostat switches. My whole experience with Appliance Parts Pros was exceptional. I had a few questions to which the pros went out of there way to get the answers I needed. They also sent me the service manual which had step by step illustrations on how to disassemble the dryer. Saved a lot of time. John D Toano , VA July 21, 2015 Appliance: Frigidaire Frigidaire/Laundry Center GLET1031FS0 Burnt out coil Well, I reckon it was an adventure. With my 10-year old stack washer-dryer, I couldn't find any YouTube walkthroughs, so I approached it with a screwdriver and a will to work. I did at least have the sense to empty out a clear plastic sectional case & dropped a note in each section to label screws (e.g., "top," "control panel" etc.) Once I finally got to the heater assembly and replaced it, reassembly was a relative breeze. Took about three hours altogether. Read More... 6 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Screwdrivers
