Bruce A Folsom , CA March 19, 2018 They are 20 year old This was more maintenance than a fix. I replaced the door gasket and temp sensor on my dryer. Thought what the heck and it might work more efficiently. I also replaced the shocks on my front loading washer. That was a bit of a chore, but could not have done it without the video that showed how to replace them. The socket was the life saver. All is working just fine. Who knows maybe I'll get another 20 year out of them. Read More... 4 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
Steven C Monrovia , CA March 19, 2020 Appliance: Model 417-92042101 Squeaks and squeals when running 19 year old Kenmore dryer. Disassembly was easy, just like the video. Using a shop vac on blow and vacuum, it took over an hour to clean out all the old lint and dirt. Rear Bearing: After cleaning it, I found the rear bearing intact and undamaged. Did not change it. The plastic/nylon bearing support looked worn, so it was replaced. Put fresh grease everywhere. Front Felt: the upper felt on the front panel also supports the drum and acts as a bearing. Replaced it. Foam seal for the fan: the foam seal for the fan was deteriorated from age. Already working in the area, so it was replaced. Belt: Wanted to replace it but had problems. Two separate replacement belts were an inch too long and would not tension. Used the old belt. Put the dryer back in the house for the test. Squeaks and squeals are gone and it runs like new.
