Stan G Hancock , NY March 09, 2017 Gas would not flow; oven would not start My tenant thought that the oven safety valve was bad, but after some research, I found that the transfer of heat from the igniter had to be sufficient enough to cause the valve to open.Your agent confirmed this and reassured me that even if the igniter was glowing, there was a 99% chance that it wasn't getting hot enough. I ordered the igniter, and also the safety valve just in case, as we were going to be fixing this on Christmas eve, so the oven could be used for Christmas dinner. Your agent assured us that we could return the unused safety valve, and that we had a year to do so. Good thing, because he was correct; we changed the igniter and everything worked.(I'm just getting around to returning the unused valve now.) I would recommend these guys to anyone who owns appliances. Steve W Hana , HI April 06, 2014 Oven was not working properly...and with faint smell of gas... Really easy. First, turn off gas and unplug the unit. Then, on the back of the stove near the floor center, disconnect the metal gas line that feeds into the safety valve. Then on the inside, take out oven floor with two screws in the back and slide back and up. Set it aside. Then remove baffle with it's one nut. Then remove screws at each end of gas tube and carefully lift off and set aside. Then remove the one screw that holds down the valve. Using a screw driver, pry off the electrical connectors. Installation is in reverse...but be sure to use some new yellow Teflon tape (for gas connections) when you reconnect the metal gas line into the safety valve. You may want to wait to install the baffle and oven floor until after you test the repair. Charles R Rittman , OH April 05, 2023 The oven would not heat up.. Replaced all parts connected to the oven. Figured it would be easier to replace all the parts related to the issue. Cheaper than buying a new stove. Now it’s new again. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
