Scott R Onondaga , MI August 14, 2015 Appliance: General Electric Washer WPRE6150K2WT Clunking and grinding from the drive Replaced the shaft & mode shifter assembly. Also replaced the pulley as it had taken some damage from the wobbling clutch dog. And replaced the tub seal since it's normally inaccessible with the shaft in place. This is an advanced repair that took a lot of time. Removing the tub nut took a 1 11/16" socket and a 700 ft-lb impact wrench and I had to hammer on the nut for several minutes to break it free of the tub. Disassembly of the washer is complete, and requires a lot of space for panels, pieces of the tub and drive, and keepers for screws. I was not able to do this in the laundry room, moved it to the garage. Brenda G Texas City , TX November 04, 2018 Appliance: General Electric Washer GTWN3000M1WS My washer wouldn't agitate or spin and made cling sounds Thanks to your video's really helped. I now know how to completely break my washer down. Actually these parts are the only parts I haven't change out, besides the motor. Your computer system is wrong on the belt. I still haven't received the correct belt I have talked to 3 different tech. They keep saying I am wrong. I am not a dummy. I do know the belt ya shipped is TO SHORT. It doesn't even go around the pulley much less reach the motor. I am lucky for right now my belt is still in good shape. But ya really need to check your picture on the belt number is correct. The order is wrong. Last number is the difference picture shows a 3 your system ships last number is a 1. Jim V Huntington Beach , CA February 17, 2017 Appliance: General Electric Washer WHRE5550K2WW Washer machine was grumbling horrible noises during the spin and rinse cycles water exiting from the machine was visible Had to disable and found that the outer tub seal had failed. This allowed water to run into the shaft of the clutch mechanism, causing corrosion. Lead to misalignment and eventually failure. After disassembly, I found that the outer tub portion also had to be replaced. The part of the tub which the shaft seal slides in to, had elongated from the wobbling. I chose to change the flywheel during this service simply because I was uncertain if the flywheel had been compromised. It was not damaged at all. A note to the next person. You will need either the wrench they sell here or a (I think it was a 1-7/16 or a 1-11/16) socket to remove the nut. I had an impact socket and an air impact hammer. Made the job really easy. Also, be careful removing the control cover, I did not slide the unit to the left far enough and ended up shearing off the plastic tabs which secure it to the top cover. Regardless, it still went back on and stays in place. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
Brian H Wallingford , CT December 05, 2017 Appliance: General Electric Washer WPRE6150K1WT Washer was making terrible banging noises and was not spinning clothes out well and leaving them so wet that it took extra long to dry them The teeth at the bottom or the mode shifter were not engaging the pulley and causing the noise as the teeth 'slipped' past the pulley causing the noise and reduced spinning of the drum. Replaced the mode shifter, pulley and the drive belt while I was there. I totally expected the pulley to be all chewed up as well but it was not, and the belt was in perfect shape but since I had bought it and had it, it is too much work to have to go back and do it again at a future date so I changed it anyway. I also changed the pulley for the same reason although I am sure I would have had no issues using the old one. The mode shifter on the other hand was totally gone and needed replacing. Repair was easier/faster than the Youtube video show; except fo the tub nut, that was difficult. I used a large 1 11/16 socket and a long extension bar to get the ratchet up out of the drum for more leverage. Even that was not enough. I had to use a pneumatic impact gun on it and that worked. I also just lifted the drum assembly out of the top of the unit rather than through the front. New parts went in easily and washer works like new again. Be sure to 'reset' the motor by plugging in the washer and then within 30 seconds, open and close the lid 6 times within 12 seconds. Took about 3 hrs total. BIG SHOUT OUT to AppliancePros.com. I ordered 4pm on Friday and had the parts on my front step by 3pm Saturday and I did not even use overnight shipping, just the standard shipping option! Read More...
