The Idler Pulley is an OEM part for GE dryers. This critical component helps to maintain the correct tension on the dryer's drive belt, ensuring smooth operation and preventing it from slipping.
Symptoms of a bad Idler Pulley include:
- Squeaking or screeching noises during dryer operation, often a sign of bearing wear or failure.
- The dryer drum not turning smoothly, or at all, indicating that the belt may be slipping or has come off entirely due to a failed pulley.

Very loud squeal noise Thomas P. • Dundalk , MD • June 05, 2018
Repair went well, replaced the pulley wheel, belt, rear drum bearing. Had an issue after replacement with the dryer stopping after ~5mins or so when running with heat. Fluff cycle would run fine.
Details:
The lock nut on the pulley wheel didn't feel tight enough so i tried to crimp it back on the pulley arm. It then became way too lose. I had to replace it with a plastic washer I had in my toolkit. That fit snug and seems to work fine. I also added some grease to the pulley shaft under...

Washer squeaked when tub is stopped during spin cycle Daniel K. • Grafton , WI • July 22, 2018
My Maytag washer make a loud screech when the washer tub needed to be stopped by the brake. Last year, I had replaced the suspension springs, the snubber ring, the drive belt and the drain pump. Those repairs worked fine, but a few weeks later, the screeching noise started. So I figured it was the brake system. I thought it would be better to replace the brake rotor and stator together as a set since I was going to disassemble both and they were 18 years old anyway. I decided to replace the...

Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WH03X32097
The Transmission Pulley and Nut is an OEM part for GE washing machines, designed to play a crucial role in the operation of the appliance. This component is directly involved in the movement and control of the washer's drum, translating the motor's power into the spinning and agitation needed for the washing process. The pulley system ensures that the machine operates smoothly, providing the necessary tension and motion to the belt that drives the drum.
Causes of these issues can range from natural wear and tear over time to improper loading of the machine, which can place undue stress on the mechanical components. Regular maintenance, including checking the integrity and alignment of the pulley system, can help prevent these problems.
Symptoms of a faulty Transmission Pulley and Nut include:
- The washing machine failing to spin or agitate properly
- Unusual noises during the spin cycle, indicating a misalignment or wear in the pulley system
- The washer drum moving more slowly or erratically
- Visible wear or damage to the pulley or nut
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Symptoms of a bad motor pulley and nut include:
- The drum not spinning or agitating
- Unusual noises such as grinding or squeaking during operation
- The washing machine not completing cycles properly
- The pulley appearing visibly worn or damaged
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

The issue was a 10+year old Maytag washer wouldn't spin nor would the agitator move but the motor would run. Wessley R. • Trinity , AL • July 28, 2020
Upon removal of the lower inspection panel on the front of the machine, my 20 year old son thought the motor was bad by the smell. But he did discover what turned out to be the belt tensioner pulley laying inside the machine. After he pronounced it dead, without a thought to the idler pulley, I looked at the machine and determined the lack of movement was due to the idler pulley having "fallen" off the shaft by looking at the illustrated parts break down provided on this website.

Replaced the shaft & mode shifter assembly. Also replaced the pulley as it had taken some damage from the wobbling clutch dog. And replaced the tub seal since it's normally inaccessible with the shaft in place. This is an advanced repair that took a lot of time. Removing the tub nut took a 1 11/16" socket and a 700 ft-lb impact wrench and I had to hammer on the nut for several minutes to break it free of the tub.
