Ken L Sterling , MA January 30, 2018 Appliance: General Electric Dishwasher PDW8280J00SS Ge pdw8280j00ss dishwasher leaking at the bottom corner of the door Not the first time my 10 year old dishwasher developed a leak. I have learned that the tub gasket gets dirty and the gasket spring gets weak. Cleaning and if needed replacing that solves the problem. In cleaning the tub gasket this time I notice the bottom door seal had separated from the door. It was originally riveted on. This seal is part of the door assembly and not available as a separate part. You need to buy inner door to get a new seal. Not worth it on a 10 year old appliance. BUT, I have learned that it's not needed. I didn't replace mine and it works without leaking! Rick A Cary , NC July 11, 2015 Appliance: Model GE PROFILE DISHWASHER PDW9280J10SS The dishwasher tub gasket was leaking it was 10 years old Replacing this gasket was simple, the baskets were removed from the dishwasher to make access easier, the old gasket was removed from the tub edge after noting the original positioning, particularly on this style where the bottom fold of the gasket fits into a wire on each side of the door to keep it in proper position. The gasket groove was inspected, and cleaned, and the new gasket was carefully pushed into place, beginning at one end, and inserted all the way around without stretching it at any point. The far end was also inserted into the wire in the bottom of the door. The gasket was gently pressed into the groove with thumb pressure to be sure it was seated all the way around. the door was closed to ensure the gasket was properly fitted, and a short cycle of the washer was run to be sure the new gasket didnt leak. By the way, APP ordering site gave the typical shipping time for standard shipping and the gasket arrived two days after it was shipped, just as the checkout website said. APP price was cheapest around too, and the part was genuine GE. It took longer to find the cheapest priced part on the internet than to install it. Next time APP will be the first place I look Read More... 22 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes
Michael K Spokane , CA June 01, 2015 Torn leaky tub gasket do to poor design of original silverware basket (no way to keep tall silverware from tearing gasket when rolling in bottom) Installed new gasket (Be careful of thin wire running horizontal along bottom of door connecting both ends of gasket. It can be easily bent when removing. The old silverware basket had no compartment covers. When you put silverware in, the taller utensils extended sideways and beyond the edge of the basket and tore the gasket when rolling in the bottom tray. The replacement has individual places for the utensils to fit. They keep the silverware straight up and away from the gasket when rolling in the tra.y Read More... 19 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes
Christopher K Leesburg , VA December 31, 2018 Deteriorated GE profile dishwasher tub gasket The job is very straightforward and easy to do- the hardest part was figuring out how the gasket fit into the washer. The directions state the white dot is the upper middle of the washer (right where the door latch is) and that's correct, but be sure to place the gasket so that the white dot is not visible/pointing out. I placed a few small dabs of clear silicone caulk where the gasket seats around the washer- this definitely helped keep it in place. Also, be sure to purchase the gasket spring as well just to plat it safe. I should have also replaced the lower door gasket while I was doing this but didn't order the part...
