General Electric Dishwasher Gasket & Seal

Not the first time my 10 year old dishwasher developed a leak. I have learned that the tub gasket gets dirty and the gasket spring gets weak. Cleaning and if needed replacing that solves the problem. In cleaning the tub gasket this time I notice the bottom door seal had separated from the door. It was originally riveted on. My wife is attached to her old, simple, no bells and whistles dishwasher. When it started leaking from the bottom of the door, I looked up the possible fix and thought the price of the gasket probably out-valued the dishwasher. I thought that it was time to buy a new one. After researching on the APP site, I decided what I thought I would need and purchased a new Gasket, Gasket Insert, Left & Right Corner Baffles from APP. The parts were shipped immediately. However, I’m an 80 yr. old female so I procrastinated for almost 6 weeks before deciding to 'tackle' the repair myself rather than hiring an appliance repair person or "handyman". The repair was super simple. Just slide out the old seal and slide in the new. The INTERESTING part was getting access to the seal at the bottom of the door. Just remove the front of the door -- unscrew eight screws around the edge. Try to pull off the door front. Finally locate two hidden screws underneath the two bottom corners. After several tries, find that the screws require a wrench to loosen. I pull off the door front, making only a few scratches, some on my hand, then try to pry up... Read more

• Leaking

Removing the bottom panel and watching the internals while the washer was running revealed a small drip from what appeared to be a plastic cam that was attached to a solenoid. The water was dripping from the shaft the cam attached to down into the solenoid. Being a DIY guy I pulled the washer out, turned it upside down and inspected the effected mechanism. All parts arrived in one box - I purchased the tub gasket, lower door gasket and lower door seal. My existing parts were visibly pretty worn out, dishwasher is 12 years old (maybe should have just bought anew one?). Tub gasket was pretty easy, it took me a while to make sure it was even all the way around, after attest run and the subsequent drying heat it fits nicely. Lower door seal went as video, all good, my other one was destroyed from the heat cycles. Could not get the lower door seal... Read more

I took the inside plate off door. Removed old gasket. Broke styrofoam vent buffernbecause I grabbed it in the wrong place. Ordered both a gasket and vent buffer from your company. It came in 2 days as promised. I had to empty dishwasher of about 2-3 inches of water as with the door apart and knowing it would leak I had to shut off electric supply and hand empty machine first cup by cup and then towel by towel. Although that this is a 10 yrs old appliance, I decided to repair it as it is part of the entire set in the kitchen. I used the tips on the videos at AppliancePartsPros site and was easy to replace the parts and fix. Only the Inlet sump was leaking, but I decided to replace all parts that are made with similar material to avoid further problems. I was a good decision as the pump suction tube was showing signs of start leaking. I would suggest AppliancePartsPros make that kind of suggestion... Read more
